Most people never get to the loving themselves stage, as it is a long, painful, and lonely process. It's ultimately rewarding, but until you see the rewards you won't enjoy what your life is.
The difficulty with loving yourself is that you have to admit all of your faults. Yes, even those that you don't think are that big of a deal and that a SO shouldn't mind because they're "minor". People don't like to encounter all their faults, because it's difficult to admit your shortcomings. Then it gets harder. You have to love yourself "in spite" of those faults you have. You have to encounter each of them directly and find a way to love a person that has that fault. Doing it to all of them makes you love a person that has all your faults, and therefore you love yourself.
The younger you start, the easier it is to accept any "new faults", because it's only one at a time, rather than however many you have when you first do it.10 Reply

There will be a point where you feel very sure about who you are, what you believe in, and what you will love and die for.
But, that is subject to evolution and improvement and refinement.
For example. I know that I will always want to:
1. Become the best version of myself.
2. Have a beautiful love relationship.
3. Create a positive impact on the world.
No matter what, those three things will not change about me.
But, HOW those things are done and what those things will look like are still subject to change and evolution.
I hope that helps!11 Reply- +1 y

I believe it’s endless simply because they’ll never be a time in anyone’s life where we say “I finally have it all figured out.” Without another obstacle storming its way into your life while you’re celebrating the thought of having it all figured out. It won’t be a time where any of us say “I have it all figured out.” And the statement actually ends up being true. It’s like you figured out that one phase of your life now it’s time to figure out the next phase and the next phase and the next phase etc

Its an endless process as the more you underatand your self the more you change
You can always get closer and closer that gives you more power over your self
But that power will also change you, creating a loop
But its always worth going after as knowing more about your self simply makes you better10 Reply

But I also believe it can be useful for us to feel like we can truly define who and what we are. Because when we feel like we greatly understand the ourselves & the world around us, we feel a greater sense of peace of mind. Which has many other positive benefits.

+1 yI believe discovering yourself is an endless process. I feel like there's never a point in time where we stop learning and growing as a person. There's always more to learn no matter what you're age is. I think they say every ten years your personality changes a bit and I believe that. I'm certainly not the girl I was ten years ago.

+1 yThat’s a really good question. I think it depends on the person. I know exactly who I am and have always known. As time went by I discovered why I am how I am, that is to say my motivations and thoughts behind what I do what I do and why. I probably figured all that out by the time I was 35. I often evaluate myself and self examine.
Now that I know this information about myself, as always I constantly refine myself. Working on being a better person and a better me every day. Changing my modes of thinking to what is best.
Bottom line is I think this is different from person to person but by the time most people are in their 40’s they likely have a good sense of who they are. I think a person’s intelligence and ability to objectively critique themselves comes into play.00 Reply 12.1K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. It's just a losers way of saying "I can't help myself, don't want to listen either, but maybe with a few months or years of fucking around, while on someone else's dime, something will land on my lap".
Hence why 99.9% of the time when you say "I'm finding myself" or "still discovering" you'll get the bums rush by people who have their shit together.
The purpose of life is to live it as best and effectively as you can.

The discovery of ego ans human individuality is certainly limitless in form to discover, but you do have an inner being that is beyond all Authenticity, Ego, and Identity.
Pure Consciousness is what you really are beyond your immediate humanity, as is every person, one with what people call God, the infinite.10 Reply
+1 yIt's not endless. Once you reach the juncture in life where you know what you want, the timeline for which you want these things to occur, are enjoying the current progress you've made and like the path your on, then you're set.
Of course we can always learn everyday and become better, but that is not discovering yourself, it is improving yourself and growing.10 Reply
+1 yI have tried this self-absorbed journey of trying to define this with all its intricacies. But I think at the end of the day it really boils down to skills, connections, money, strength, and good looks.

There's no end to a journey of trying to define who I am because I'm stupid about who I am and if I'm stupid about that, how can I expect the world to understand what I don't even understand? So I think you stop this self-obsessing stuff as much as you can. There are simple metrics: looks, money, fame, connections, strength (more biceps than mental because people can see biceps better).
+1 yIt goes on for as long as you live. Whenever you find yourself growing complacent, one often finds a growing bitterness at the idea of reaching the end of your progression of self before the end of your life.

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yIt's an "endless process" in the sense that you should always be consciously evaluating where you are in life, if you're happy with your life, and if not, what can you do to change that?
I don't believe there's a point where you can "truly" define yourself.
