Is a Beretta 92FS a better gun to have for self-defense and protection?

Prices vary depending on where you look. I’ve seen some for $500. As for a Beretta, I didn’t really care for it when I was in the military. There’s a lot of things to consider as far as having one for protection. For one the stopping power. A 9mm doesn’t pack as much punch as a higher caliber, but too having a higher caliber means less round capacity in a magazine. Also what if you miss your target in your home? Will it penetrate through the walls potentially hitting someone else? Do you plan on having a laser on it or a flashlight? Insurance as well in case there’s some sort of litigation involved. I think your best bet is to go to a gun store that allows rentals so you can try out numerous guns to see what works best for you. Some people swear up and down certain ones are best for self defense whereas I found I didn’t care for some of them depending on how it fit in my hand, the weight of it, etc. Make sure to watch numerous videos online, read as much material as you can. Also websites that deal w what you plan on getting it for. You’re not going to take advice from a hunting website if it’s for home defense. But I think shooting numerous guns would help you make a better decision. Besides you want to shoot it so you know how it kicks, what to expect, what to do if it jams, misfires, etc. You don’t want the first time you ever shoot it to be when you really need to use it. My best advice though is talk to a lot of people, go to the gun store, ask questions. It’s a big responsibility as you already know. No this isn’t legal advice either this is just some of the things I did when it came to purchasing firearms. There’s also courses for tactical firing. I’m sure you know it’s much harder shooting a moving target compared to a stable one. A few people I like to watch online, T. Rex arms, Colion Noir and hickok45. Colion Noir is really good at explaining a lot of things, goes into self defense scenarios, the laws, things like that. I believe he’s a lawyer.
I think it's from 600 to 800 dollars, not counting tax and all, I got a glock 19 gen 5 for protection and I'm satisfied with my purchase
I'm gonna say 900 dollars.

They can be costly, 300.00+ depending on the model you are purchasing. You can look at used ones as well.
There and many versions of the 92 from full size to subcompact styles and newer race guns or shooting competition guns as well.
Good luck and happy shopping and shooting!
Expensive isn't always better lol
