I laugh about how the people calling everything “woke” are so far off from what “woke” originally meant. It’s hard to even take it seriously when I hear someone complaining about because I know they’re just flailing to cast something they don’t like in a negative light that they can’t reasonably justify within the boundaries of common decency. So they now use “woke” as this vague evil boogeyman to demonize social progress they want to stifle, or claim victimhood over some perceived slight against whichever established powerful demographic who have been asked to just let everyone else get their fair share of or fair shot at as well, but see it as a zero-sum game and they fear their lion’s share of the spoils will be threatened.

What comes to mind when I hear the word "woke" depends on the person who uses the term. For the most part, whenever I hear a Black person (or non-White person) use the term, I think of its main definition as intended, which is "to be aware of and actively attentive to important societal facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice)." Based on my experiences as a Black person, I've always known "woke" to have that meaning. However, when White people or otherwise people that call themselves "conservatives" or Republican voters use the term "woke," I think of it as a synonym for "political correctness," which is defined as "a term used to describe language, policies, or measures that are intended to avoid offense or disadvantage to members of particular groups in society." Thus, for people that refer to themselves as "conservatives," practically anything that caters to non-White people or minority groups in general, especially in response to controversy regarding such groups, is likely to be "woke" in a negative way. For example, if Black people believe that police unjustly kill unarmed Black suspects at higher rates, any bill that addresses is likely to be labeled as "woke," or if gay people believe that gays aren't represented well on TV shows and writers put more gay people in their shows to address the issue, the writers would also be accused of being "woke." This is because, much like the meaning of political correctness, addressing these issues is automatically perceived as avoiding offense or disadvantage to members of particular groups in society. However, my take is this: instead of determining whether or not something is "woke" in that regard, try determining whether or not it is based on truth or falsehood or whether or not such a "woke" action actually causes more harm or good to society. Whether or not something is "woke" is irrelevant to the bigger picture.

I went with LGBT, meaning that they go along with the idea that a man can actually be a woman and should be treated as such in things like female beauty pageants and sports. I have no problem with normal LGBT people.
They also believe in confusing children about gender and pushing notions of non-binary and that gender is a choice. Also, that the mutilation and sterilization of children is "gender affirmation".

I'm talking about crazy shit like lightly touching a woman between the shoulder blades as a traditionally polite way of signaling her to enter a door before you; or a couple of guys sitting at a bar and talking about how hot the girls at the other end are; or walking up to a girl and saying "Hello"; or a superior in a business being accused of being too bossy to women; or then notion that appreciation of the female form is objectification.
These kinds of things fall under the heading of "woke". I simply call it insanity.

For evil up is down, left is right, people that confront homosexuality are homophobes, fascists are antifascist (ANTIFA), and so on. All language is perverted by evil communists. You know the Berlin Wall was really called the “Antifaschistischer Schutzwall,” or the “anti-fascist protection barrier” because it was built by ANTIFA who are otherwise known as the Stasi who were originally recruited from the Nazi Gestapo. As is with evil, that's why ANTIFA calls everyone Nazis, because they are the real Nazis. This is why ANTIFA backs the Democrat party that finances Nazis in Ukraine. "Woke" is meant to be a mocking of "The Great Awakening". It's meant to be opposite to act as a distraction and create chaos... So if The Great Awakening is a revival of faith in God and encourages the notions of nationalism and individual rights, then "Woke" is an attempt to destroy faith in God and encouraging the notions of globalism and communism by taking away individual rights. It's pretty basic, where did you get confused? We're talking about Good vs Evil here lady...
It's a new catch-all word for "it used to be better the old way" (oh, the deliciousness of this irony!).
The same people who use the word would e. g. like to be able to use slurs like they could in the past, but without consequences. The new world, with accountability for past, scares them. They understood the old one, the new one is alien to them, they don't like it or understand the rules which govern it.
I remember 25-ish years ago in my country we heard about Swedish people not resorting to any physical violence to rear children and there were maaany people who said things like "this is frenzy/folly" and "but how are you to discipline children if not by hitting them?" or "I was beaten black and blue and I love my parents". Today when someone voices the same sentiments they are looked down upon, like smelly relics of a past system which has no place in the present. They, on the other hand, could - not unlike GoP - name everyone who is not stuck in that outdated worldview "woke".

Most definitions of woke sound like it's a good thing that most people want, regardless of their political beliefs. So I think GOP lawmakers don't really know what the word means and are mad at something and don't know why, so they use woke as something that is bad.

It is one of those terms that is used in different ways by different people, so I pretty much ignore the word itself and look for the context of the usage by the people using it. That technique has unfortunately become more and more needed when people discuss political issues, otherwise people risk completely talking past each other.
