I know several people who still wear them because they have immune disorders or other serious health issues that would make them particularly vulnerable to Covid. They aren’t trying to make any kind of political statement. They just want to stay out of the hospital. My neighbor, for instance, has Addison’s disease and Covid would be very bad for him. He wears a mask when he has to leave his house. Is he a snowflake for wanting to live? We don’t know everyone’s health status to make that kind of judgement.

Recognizing a real risk to your health and life is not the same as being afraid. When a doctor puts on a mask for surgery they are not AFRAID of getting sick or whatever, they do it from a position of understanding the situation and acting appropriately.

The one who is acting based on their emotions is you. Either that, or alternatively you are just ignorant.

Why not? Even if you are going to argue that the odds of it helping is very low, so is wearing seat belts. That does not mean that every time you did not wear a seat belt was not you "protecting yourself".

Many people are concerned about long covid. There are reports that having covid can cause long term cognitive disability - a really horrifying risk.

From reading the papers carefully, I think that risk is actually extremely low, but I understand people being concerned
