In a perfect world, we should do this.
First, we war declare on Mexico due to the flood of illegals and drugs. These are acts of war, in case you snowflakes and Leftist collaborators didn't notice. We should send in Recon Marines to exterminate the cartels. If we get resistance from the Mexican military or Federales, Neutralize them as well. This should take a month once intelligence is complete and we know where we are going.
Then we create Tent Cities in compatible. occupied regions in Mexico and direct emigrants to them. Then we deport anyone who does not clear E-Verify to these tent cities. Yes, US Taxpayers will pay for this. Money well spent.
I could get behind this, except for the "should take a month" thing. The last two wars [should have] taught us that we suck at the hold and build stages of clear-hold-build and guys that poke goats with sticks held us off for two decades despite all our intelligence.
That said, I'd rather waste a decade on their side of the border than ours.

asylum seekers, apparently have a right to tread across the unknown. yea, it is their choice. but those that survive bring their traumas with them. the cost to protect them is less than the ensuing damage they do because they are messed up. You only have the right to claim asylum in the first safe country you land in, which means if you came by land and you're anything but Mexican or Canadian then I don't care. Should have claimed asylum somewhere else. Like... I don't know... the first safe country you landed in.
Furthermore, to qualify for asylum, a person must show they've suffered persecution or have a legitimate fear they will face persecution in the future, based on any of these factors:
race, nationality, religion, political opinion, membership in a particular social group. "My home country sucks" is not a legitimate reason. Stay at home and make your country suck less. Look at a great many countries... the "asylum" boats are filled with men. You left your women and children at home so you could run off and try to sneak in? No, sorry, not sorry. No sympathy, go home.

Mexico runs on the bribery system, and asylum costs $$$$ making it completely impractical for the vast majority of immigrants.

@msc545 Yeah I have. And my best friend is Mexican, so he spent more time than me there. There was a time when we didn't let people in the country unless they could prove they had enough funds to not be on welfare. If this was the case, they could pay the bribes. All of this still falls into the "not my problem" category. Follow the laws of the country you want to move to or stay the F out. I don't go to Japan and then demand they cater to me. Territorial integrity is the first right of a nation. If you don't care about that why should I assume you'll care about the other laws here?

"My country sucks" is still not a valid reason. "I can't find a job" is not a valid reason. "There's a metric shitton of crime" is not a valid reason. High crime rate does not equal persecution.
You do not have to be IN the U. S. to apply for asylum. Any material misrepresentation on your application can result in bar from relief from removal.
The law matters because it IS the law. I didn't write it and I don't enforce it. True, you do not have to be in the US to apply, but you do have to be here to attend the hearing. If it matters, I have testified at many of these hearings and the Judges that decide asylum cases seem to be very diligent and fair.

I so accept the concept of "humane". The tent cities would be that and and not concentration camps. They would be Communes or Kibbutz's. We would feed, clothe, police and give them basic medical care; same as we should for SF's Homeless. We would induce them to support themselves through agriculture and small enterprise. They would be free to leave, but not into the USA. Sounds like a liberal bleeding heart, don't it? Maybe that's the flip side of being Christian.

Then there is a matching database of sponsor families that are logged, audited, and suitable matches aligned. They need sponsors that support them. After all those are filled up, there is NO CAPACITY unless the govt builds tent cities temporarily in the middle of nowhere. What we are doing makes no sense...

So true. With de-dollarization accelerating, little left of our industrial base, skyrocketing cost of living (partly caused by mass migration itself), and crumbling infrastructure, these migrants seem to have no idea what they are moving into. I’ve said before and still believe the border wall will be built, but by Mexico to keep people north of the border from moving south.
