How is the US army going to stop the migrants?

Trump's executive order states that immigration is an invasion and America's sovereignty is under attack. In other words immigrants are an invading army, just like his pal Putin's invasion of Ukraine.

He's now sent the army to, "immediately repel, repatriate and remove" those individuals.

But given the style of dark language he's using, what exactly does he mean by "remove"? He's already said repel and repatriate, so "remove" sounds rather ominous, especially since he's sending thousands of troops. How exactly does an army stop an invasion?

Just their presence is a deterrence. Same thing we did before in the early 2000s. We were on the border for about a year. A number of us worked the trains. So when the trains would come through it would go through this box x-ray, you could see personnel as well as drugs, other things that shouldn’t have been in the train. We’d pull the individual or individuals off, they’d take them to the processing center then send them back. Some were detained if they were wanted for crimes. Many of us worked in the vehicle section. A lot of cars are kind of built the same. So when you’re searching vehicles you know where to tap. You know what parts should sound hollow or what parts of the vehicle are solid. We tore apart numerous cars filled w drugs. We also patrolled the fences along the border. Trust me we did a lot. Some of my friends are now actually employed by CBP. By the way, no we didn’t carry guns. Maybe some of the higher ups did, but a lot of us didn’t.

Just because some of them are not organized and many more are counting on our own incompetents to let them stay doesn't make them a non-invader.

The U. S. military is helping build the wall, and fly out illegal Aliens, as well as we hope force their country or origin to take back their own citizens.

As a brittish subject not from the border area you may not realize just how dangerous the area is between the environment and drug-lords or how the source countries from Latin America are actually encouraging this invasion for money. Well there is a problem with all of this. The US military is not trained to do pretty much any of the duties that are required by a border guard. The skills are not transferable and the equipment is also not really transferable. Furthermore the military is EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE to operate so if you thought establishing a border guard and wall across the border with Mexico would be an economic challenge.. having the military do it instead is going to 10x the cost at the very least.

Besides, the illegals that "jumps the fence" is but a very small minority. That is not the primary way that illegal immigrants enter USA illegally. Trying to patch up the Mexico border with a wall to stop illegal immigration is like taping the gaps in the doors closed to keep out the cold on a room without walls. You are wasting your time.

@Syntosi It has been 50 years and prior politicians efforts to fix the issue with half measure have all failed terribly. Its long past time to use the military and use new more 'extreme' measures.

If the military isn't capable of doing border control they are not fit to serve in any defense capacity. All militarizes in history around the world are ultimately about securing the countries borders from external threats.

The fact that some people in America want to the measures to fail and thus deliberately cripple them with half measure and kid glove only speaks to their dishonesty.

It is time to take the gloves off. That means If countries that sent these invaders refuse to take them back peacefully the U. S military needs to establish a beachhead and forcefully dump them there.

Don't even pretend these countries are innocent, most of them are profiting from this colonization of our country with the culture they spread, the money sent back home, and the unwarranted people they no longer have to deal with.

This is why they are not taking seriously their responsibility to secure their own borders and maintain civil relations with America that and our lying politicians have left them. Its time to let the militarily actually defend America for once.

As for why the military would be terrible as border guards? Putting aside how cost inefficient they are, the military is trained to deal with enemy combatants. Border guards are trained to deal with civilians. They are fundamentally not the same thing and attempting to have the military treat civilians as enemy combatants is going to backfire HARD.

Dont get me wrong, I am also not happy with the current situation of illegal immigration in USA. I just dont care to waste my time with "solutions" that won't work when we already know how to fix it in the first place.

The IRS is unlikely to catch most people cheating on their taxes because it lacks the means to audit everyone.

The military likewise is also in peace time all about fear, being big mean and scary enough that nations don't want to fight us. Having them on the border particularity if they actually do something that you think will "backfire" would send a message around the world not to come or this will happen to you.

Your right however it is going to largely fail on internal enforcement where most of the illegal aliens already are. The federal goverment doesn't have a fraction of the forces required to enforce any domestic rule. It needs the help of the states and that's only going to come from many conservative states even then lack luster for lack of money in the areas where the illegal aliens are most prevalent.

That is why I said if we really want to accomplish this we need to setup some kind of bounty system so State's make a significant amount of money for every verified illegal alien they actually turn over.

The additional 1500 military personnel were sent to the southern US-Mexico border to assist US border agents in monitoring the border, apprehending illegals who cross it, and act as deterrent to this wanting to cross. Basically, to fill the holes the existing number of border agents cannot cover.

The military will primarily be used to provide secure transportation of deportees to Mexico or to holding areas until they can be returned to their country of origin. This will free up Border Patrol and ICE personnel and resources to process other migrants.

The military already has the necessary training for the portion of the job they are doing, and this allows the BP and ICE to do the more complicated work that the military isn't trained for.

Most of the migrants during the past four years have been military-aged young men (I saw crowds of them walking north on rural roads in my area) and some of them are dangerous. The military is well equipped to help with logistics and security.
