These people that don't listen are the same ones who bitch about the gas prices being too high. Well, stop saying it's because of who we have in presidential office. That has NOTHING to do with it. I wish these people would pick up a book every once in a while, and learn about how an eco-system is only as strong as the people maintain it and learn about how an economy works.

But the ones where the company needs them need to keep speaking back. At my own workplace for example even though I am currently in a vulnerable position my manager in the corona days flat-out asked if I had taken the vaccine in front of the entire department (Small company so we are all in the same room). My response? I honestly told him no and why not. I was then known as the guy who didn't take it, and they challenged me on that decision but I defended it and once they understood my view was not a selfish one they respected my decision and left me alone about it. That day I got another colleague sending me a DM he agree'd with everything I said, so he supported me in silence.

If I had not done that and be so open about the truth the others would not feel safe to have the same position as me.

As far as the media goes they obviously collude with corporate interests, and so does the government. So while I don't think they are necessarily serving the government the gov and the corporate world completely fused together in what fits the traditional definition of fascism. But when you explain how it works to people they either think you're the crazy one, or they refuse to listen because they do not want to face the truth and want to keep pretending everything is ok.

People are luckily waking up in larger numbers than ever before, but its still only like 20% of the population.

@JustMeL120 That is not giving them enough credit. The problem is very often not intelligence, my parents for example understand what I am explaining to them fully. Its more like brainwashing. Goes a bit like this, from a young age your told to listen to authority figures. In school your told what the truth is, and then graded on how well you memorized and internalized that truth. So you roll into a system where they hand you sources and those explain to you how the world works. This is then continuously reinforced trough for example the media.

So someone can have genuine intelligence, and be actually smart. Yet be easy to manipulate because they rely on sources of information that explain things in an overly complicated matter in a way they need to try to understand. So when they figure all that out, and they hear the same conclusions on the news then it must be true.

What they miss is the fact that their sources are one sided, and because they are sold the real side of the story is misinformation or fiction and its better to stick with the sources they always believed to be credible they can't snap out of this.

I tried very very hard, but you just can't changes someone's core belief system unfortunately. So it doesn't matter that my dad understands what I say perfectly, he simply will not believe it to actually be true because for his entire life his entire world view was completely different and he has sources that still align with what he always believed.

There is something more than just intelligence that is required here, its the willingness to admit your wrong and a desire for truth over comfort. And its the willingness to step outside of social norms, since going along with what everyone beliefs is a pretty fundamental evolutionary strategy since otherwise you can turn your peers against you.

At the end of the day those people you are talking about that don't want to accept the truth are putting themselves in danger. And it's not your place to sacrifice your time trying to help someone who doesn't want help. A lot of people died from the vaccine a lot of people die going to war supposedly to fight fro their country. A lot of people die trusting the healthcare system. A lot of people die trusting the police. If people can't see that they are putting their life at risk not sure what you can do.
