How can you claim to care about a baby but not want to make sure that every potential mother has guaranteed maternity leave so she can give birth to and care for that baby? Sounds like anti-life.
I'm pro choice but I'm still against maternity leave when mandated by the state. I imagine pro ligers have a multitude of reasons, not some monolithic one, so at least some of them probably share my reason. If you choose to stay home and crank out a new litter every year then what are you contributing to my factory, which has orders to fill and deadlines to meet? Nothing, but if I, as the factory owner choose to offer maternity leave in hopes of attracting a higher caliber worker, I should be free to do so.

Really good point!
They are? I’m not. I’m from a country that offers one of the longest paid maternity leaves in the world and I still think it should be longer.
Because while they claim to be champions and defenders of the above unborn, they don’t really care about people after they’re born.

It probably depends on why they're pro-life. Honestly I don't care if states make abortion illegal or planned parenthood gets enough donations to pass them out like hotcakes in the ghetto. Just as long as it doesn't affect the taxes or insurance I pay.
For most stances politicians would take though, ignore the rhetoric and ideology, left or right, and follow the money. Why would you ever imagine they care about us, or truly have principles if they managed to be a career politician?
I say paternity leave should be as long and as accessible if maternity leave is so important. Isn't the point that women lack support from their husbands and community? Why would men have more resources there if our society is so cold?
Paternity leave exists, but is generally half pay, or unpaid compared to maternity leave. Isn't "co-parenting" very important?
Because its not free and someone has to pay.
Because they don't actually care about the child. The just want to control other people, even it means forcing unwanted children to start life a huge disadvantage.
