What is Whoopi Goldberg's reasoning for saying that? Not that I disagree with her, I just want to know what is behind her statement. LOL I've never been a fan of "American Idol". And similar to you, I've never been a fan of "Survivor". I saw that as being a step backwards.
Like a lot of embittered older Black women, Whoopi is apparently operating under the 'Its not fair, it's not fair, it's not fair, so let's just tear it all down doctrine.
Liberalism, big government, technological advances that have rendered much of our way of life useless, victimhood/grievance mongering, fear of being unpopular, which prevents people who know we're essentially fucked, longer term, globalization, groupthink, the renaissance in the third world, and of course, the single greatest enemy (with the possible exception of the axis powers in WWII) this nation has ever faced -- corporate media-- ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, NYT, WP, and more.

Big Brother is kind of racist so I pick that show even though I still watch it almost every year. Jerry springer and Maury are other shows that I used to watch faithfully that can be seen as the downfall of society.
Yeah, garbage like American Idol doesn't help, but social media, reality shows and the way everything is treated as disposable now whether it is music, movies, or anything else. It is all like junk food to people.
People just consume and consume without giving much thought what it is they are consuming. There is no quality control, it is just put it out there and suckers will eat it up.
Remember in 2017-18, when Lying (caught twice giving false statements to congress) John Brennan appeared on the show, and slimily attempted to tip toe around the egregious tactics that were being used against, ultimately, the American people. At one point, Whoopi cushion and the other shrews said something like, 'So, they should have been grateful that you were surveilling them, because it was for their own protection''. Unbelievable..,
You actually believe they're going to let him win again? I think you're nuts. And I'll take it a step further -- we will never see a republican president again in the U. S. it's over.
Oops - I don't know that man :) I'm from a different culture... Anyhow - in recent years (also in other parts of the world) ''news'' are not longer only made to inform ''us''. Journalism (with very few exceptions) now also transmits a point of view, instead of just telling the facts. When I picked and named this kind of show, then because I think that manipulation of the unsuspecting (or simple?) people indeed corrodes society in its independent intelligence (and specifically addressing the U. S. Americans: ''Freedom'' as well)
