but as someone who works in the restaurant industry, it’s because quite a lot of public look down on food workers. They think they’re better than you just because you serve food for a living.
That’s why some customers think they can talk to you and treat you any way they want.
As for actual employees acting the way they do, it’s because both the employees and the jobs are completely replaceable.

If you fire me from one restaurant then I can just go down to the next restaurant and get a new job the next day.
So a lot of food workers don’t care to get fired so they also act the way they want to act
