What do you think we need to do as a world to save us from self-destruction? What would it take? Or is it too late?

What do you think we need to do as a world to save us from self-destruction? What would it take? Or is it too late?

Start from scratch. There's so much corruption with politics and religious beliefs. Everyone's opinions are so scattered, and everyone wants to do things their own way as a result. We need governments that go in one direction, instead of multiple, but at the same time, offers freedom.
So many politicians want to do things their own way, and are so stubborn when someone else comes up with a better idea because they have to be egotistical.
Our government in the United States is a joke. It's an embarrassment. One party goes one way, the other goes another, and it's all about who messed up worse rather than who can fix what needs repaired. One man tries to overturn an election, another makes so many ridiculous decisions.
In the beginning of the world, there was so much confusion, people killed out of fear, and it's coming back to that. A lot of people do things out of fear, including political leaders.
The world needs to start over. New laws, new policies, and the only people that should be in position of power are those who care about looking after the world, rather than criticizing each other.
And better law enforcement for sure. Law enforcement abuses their power and goes overboard. Starting over from scratch is the only way, really.
No stress. We are in our own worlds no matter if we all actually live on the same world. At this point in my life and how humanity is going the world is already self-destructing itself from the people. People really don’t care about the earth as much as they should, and every day they hurt the earth way more than help. This leads to deterioration and spoilage of our planet.
The best thing we can do is not just physically doing the mentally being. You can save the world and clean up the earth all you want but if you have a mental state of being in a shitty world, then what’s the point of all this? And vice versa.
Population reduction to numbers from 19th century. Problem number one is our inflationary economy and social systems, those need a steady growth. Problem two, humans are animals and our elites prefer to steal from others than to renounce, despite they have more they could ever eat.
It's not too late but humanity isn't capable to change itself and their nature, this will lead to natural collapse and even to extinction like in mice-utopia experiment.
Once dinosaurs were dominating the planet Earth, and now their descendants are chickens.
Something similar will happen to us as well.
Dinosaur’s biggest strength was their size and exactly it led them to their demise.
Our strength is intelligence and I think that’s what will lead to our demise.
We exploit our intelligence and use it in evil ways.

humans haven't evolved in forever and maybe have even devolved some, so we got trouble.
Yes, we can go back to living the way our grandparents did... off the land and hard work. Redivide the wealth, have a debt jubilee... no more debt... oops that means all money is wiped out and return to gold. That will cause wars and we'll all blow each other up... that won't work...
maybe everyone plants a garden and every rooftop has shrubs trees on it, every city is planted with food bearing plants, and everyone composts... like grandma used to.
that's a mess as well... I'm outa ideas at the moment...
Earth won't self destruct. What's going to happen, in the far off future, i mean way into the future, is, the sun, is going to die. It's going to expand, and as it expands, the earth will have what's called a "runaway effect", where, it will try to outrun the sun, and if it does, it'll still exist, but, nothing will survive on it anymore, but, if not, then, that's it for earth, as the sun will engulf, mercury, venus earth and likely mars too. The sun will close in on itself and become a dwarf, barely supporting any life at that point as itll be a bright one but, not supporting life. Sun's not big enough to go supernova, sorry, for you supernova fans
@mommymommymommy Accurate, though thats estimated at approximately 12 billion years from now iirc. We will be space fairing long before then.
In most ways the world has been getting better for humans for the last few hundred years. There are some problems left, with climate change probably the largest, but we'll fix it.
I' m not worried about the future, its better than the past
How has it been getting better? The world is on the verge of war. That makes it better?
Slavery is almost gone. Starvation is far less common. Death from disease is decreasing (despite a slight bump from covid) War deaths per person are way down. We are not on the brink of nuclear war (though the risk is up some in the last year). Human rights have improved and in most of the world women at least on paper have equal rights.
@richardcory Finally a sane person, all the doomsday and mass depopulation sayers are just ridiculous. Humans are resourceful, we are the only species able to intentionally preserve ecosystems in the entire history of the earth, and we need more of us to do that effectively. But people act like we are the problem, it's just absurd...
Ecosystems normally collapse, mass extinctions are the normal outcome, we are the only ones that can do anything to buck that trend.
Nessesity is the mother of invention. Carbon capture is a thing but energy consumption is at a net negative. There's also the new fusion energy that makes more power then putting in. Put them together and we have the ability to put carbon back into a tube.
Talk to the government who stole Tesla's research after he was dead. Who knows, maybe they had a hand in it. They make too much money on other forms of energy.
Not government run, but you know they can put a lot of pressure on someone to comply with their agenda. If you don't you might have an accident or just disappear.
Bud Light goes out of business less bottles buried in the earth
That is one way to look at things.
Nah, we'll be fine. Earth has survived a thousand cataclysms in its 4 billion year history. And life thrives regardless. Even where Chernobyl took place.
Yes, we should take better care with pollution and all that but I don't see the end of the world happening.
Bring back the Hippie trend. Bring back the Hippie trend 🥰😌😅

We started harming the environment by using fossil fuels, so we made, and or still working towards, clean and renewable energy. This is one of an abundance of examples of human ingenuity tackling and overcoming sometimes deadly things. We shouldn't be careless or lazy when it comes to global warming, but it's very likely humans will overcome this, too.
I like your optimism, but I don't think it will happen. Even if the US cleaned up it's act it doesn't mean every other polluting country, like China, will. The winds carry everyone's pollution around the world. So we all suffer from what someone else sends up into the air. Everyone will have to be on board for this to ever happen. But you can't get nations that use fossil fuels to do so as they can't afford cleaner options to create electricity. They tried nuclear but there have been too many accidents that have caused harm.
I can see your point, and I certainly don't think you're definitively wrong, but I'd imagine with innovation, renewable energy would be not only more financially beneficial, but more beneficial on other facets (like environment) than fossil fuels are. As crooked as the CCP is, I doubt they actively want their environment to widdle away. Once renewable energy is preferable, I'm sure they'd use it. No sense in using an inferior means of energy production.
For example, if you can use solar becomes just as effective as fossil fuels, would China prefer to dug up oil, or produce solar panels? I'd imagine producing solar panels is quicker and easier, and that will only be more and more true as innovation comes along.
Pardon the typo in the first sentence of my last response, hopefully it didn't cause any confusion.
Manufacturing solar panels itself causes pollution due to the materials used. Also, they don't last forever so then you have to figure out what to do with the used panels. Everything we make on this planet creates some sort of pollution.
For now, yes, solar panels aren't perfect. When automobile engines first came out, they were real bad for the environment. But you know what humans did? They made it more efficient derive power from the oil, so it had to use less, and less toxins went into the environment. The same will happen with solar panels. And maybe I'll meter be perfect, but nothing is. Even animals and vegetation have some impact on their environment, sometimes to devastating effects.
But the smarter we get, the better we can lessen our imprint on the environment. Unless we get struck by a meteor or something, it seems inevitable that we will overcome these issues.
The earth will be fine. It's been through far worse and survived. It's the human race that may find themselves in trouble. And as we don't seem to want to take the threat seriously, we are sleepwalking into hard times
Perhaps if we get smarter and take care of the planet then we might be able to work with it and extend the length in which it can sustain life. Eventually, it will be out of our hands.
It's not self destructing. The earth has been through MUCH worse conditions in the past many many times, and yet here we are today, on a planet teeming with life.
Yes nature has a way of working these out in its own way. So there is nothing for use to do or not do.. nature will handle it.
I think not. Also don't wanna try stopping it... funkin' dumbasses everywhere.
I don't know. A lot of them moved onto G@G. 😯🤪😵
Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He will need to return before all flesh is lost. But the Earth will only be completely destroyed by FIRE, by Him, after He takes His people to their eternal home
I think we need to worry more about the people than the planet. The planet will be fine and persist long after we destroy ourselves.
So many things
Population
Plastic
Trees
Rivers
Farming
.. Etc
enjoy it while you can kuz certainly doomed by pollution even before global warming if real.
I dont see it as bad as people make it out to be. I think its the people not the place
No. Cause eventually the sun will burn out and the solar system will collapse
They say that won't happen for a billion years. WE will be extinct way before that happens.
I just answered your question. The planet will not be destroyed in our lifetime unless a meteor or black hole gets too close unexpectedly
Get President Donald J Trump back in office and he’ll diffuse the whole problem we are in. It’s all bonehead biden’s and oBlahma’s fault!
Nothing, the destruction of the planet will occur in a million or so years when the sun goes super nova. Hopefully we've gotten off before then.
We will be long gone before even 100 years passes.
Death to all loony lefties and tyrannical leaders of any country.
To be clear, there's nothing wrong with the planet. The PEOPLE are fucked up. The planet will be just fine without us.
Getting rid of liberals, communist and dictators & clown world idealogist & Pedos.
Maybe I'm overly optimistic, but I think it will be fine.
The earth is totally fine, we're not. It might become uninhabitable for us, but nature will run its course.
Yes, there are things that we can do. But sadly, for some of those, it is too late, and the rest, we will not do.
The Earth is not self-destructing, neither is humanity not yet anyway.
Have children. Just because it’s bad for us doesn’t mean it will be bad for them
Mass depopulation, clear 5 billion out and never let it get that had again
That will happen in the End Times, but that doesn't help us now.
Had to happen now to avoid an end time
The earth isn't overpopulated, its underpopulated.
No we will one day be able to filter pollution from air and water. Then well be fine.
If we ever survive that long. I'm betting "no".
I saw a talented psychic say it. He is scary good so I listen to him.
I think God knows more than a psychic. It's not looking too good so far.
God doesn't exist but psychics do and this man is scary good. I go by science not faith.
Well, then you are on the wrong side. Do you also believe that all the evil in the world is not the devil's fault?
you believe in religion? religion is as real as the tooth fairy
Save more rescue kittens
Yeah sustainability and making less kids
Humans are not overpopulated.
What?
There are not too many humans.
There are however not enough of many other species.
You know how in africa you see megafauna and herds of wildebeast numbering in the millions? thats supposed to be MUCH more common, and its supposed to be the state that all countries are in. We do not need less humans, we need substancially more wildlife.
I read and saw your point but I think the earth is overpopulated and it’s necessary to have less humans but with better quality
its not overpopulated, not even remotely. To manage ecosystems effectively, we would actually need much more people than we currently have.
Extinction is the rule, survival is the exception.
Ecosystems naturally collapse and restart over time, preserving them is an exclusively human desire, and we lack the "army" we would need in mainainers and observers to be able to do that.
maintainers*
It takes just one person to hunt a species into extinction, but it takes an absurdly large amount of people to protect them.
We are lacking in biologists, ecologists, park rangers, zookeepers, vets, wildlife breeders, habitat restorers, habitat monitors, geneticists, etc.
The earth is huge, we currently suck at monitering ecosystems and species and understanding their complexity because we just do not have enough people to do that.
Exactly we have to keep humans that already exist satisfied and that only can happen if we stop making more humans, for example when someone commits a crime the system should provide them with therapy sessions but if we have lots of humans the system have no choice but to execute them because lack of time and resources, you said we have lack of professional people well due to statistics most of educated people came from families with low numbers of kids and it make lots of sense higher numbers of kids is equal to higher numbers of mental health and then of course those humans can’t be as beneficial for society as someone who grew up in a quiet family
Yes, what are you talking about Gnome? If people are starving to death, then we have too many.
@soniaaaaaaa No, you completely missed the point, we need MORE humans. Otherwise ecosystem preservation long terms simply isn't possible. Those jobs require intelligent people, intelligence is rare, and you cannot breed for it, so they only way to have more intelligent people is to have more overall people. It has nothing to do with "being satisfied", its a job qualification issue, there simply are not even remotely enough people qualified for those jobs.
@yesterdayschild We don't have a food shortage, people starve because they either live in an uninhabitable area, or because they are poor.
Again, there is no overpopulation issue.
We need to not have a nuclear war.
the absence of humanity
Looks like the Galápagos Islands are toast. Lol
