We might find some way to limp on for a few millennia but we’re on a path of death.
We already let millions die because we didn’t want to get a fckin injection.

You and I won't be alive to see the worst consequences of the last few decades of sickening over indulgence and pollution. But yes, humans have destroyed the planet. Not only have we thrown off climate stability, we have thrown off the tilt of the actual earth by consuming so much ground water.
One of the saddest little side notes on this is that insurance companies realised how bad it was going to be back in the 1970s and didn't tell anyone about it. They just used that information to raise premiums where appropriate. It wasn't until the 1990s that mainstream science confirmed what the insurance companies already knew.
If we're lucky, and we can exterminate cunts like Jordan Peterson, Tucker Carlson, and other idiots who have decided to use pandering to the right as an income stream, capitalising on stupidity by seeding utter ignorance with pernicious misinformation and denial of facts, we might avoid catastrophic temperature rise and limit it to 2.5°C average increase by 2100 and start to actually reduce it. But even then, the climate disasters we're seeing now will continue for at least 1000 years before settling down again. It is also likely we will miss those targets and have to deal with catastrophic sea level rises which will displace millions and millions of people around the world. Large coastal cities in places like the United States, Asia, Australia, Africa, India and Europe will be washed away. We're talking about iconic cities here like Miami, New York, Sydney, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Rio De Janeiro etc under water.
So yes, we are probably royally fucked. But you and I will be dead before the absolute worst of it. However, if one of us lives long enough, we may experience some horrifying things.
"Not only have we thrown off climate stability, we have thrown off the tilt of the actual earth by consuming so much ground water."
Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear! Seriously? Oh, and if we all together jump up in the air at the exact same instant, we can make the flat earth vibrate too! And angels push the planets in their elliptical paths, and there are 2,803 genders.
(sigh, eyeroll)
You commies really make me laugh! :D
"Hit a nerve". No, I'm just consistently amazed at how stupid some people can be. And how nasty and arrogant as well. You want to "exterminate" (your word, not mine) people who simply do not agree with you. Gee, how "tolerant" you are! Whatever happened to "Love Trumps Hate"? We don't seem to hear that slogan anymore, maybe because now it's "Kill, Kill, Kill those who don't share my deranged views".
You're a nasty, horrid little man. Your hatred has corrupted your mind and soul, and there is nothing but ugly blackness in that deep, dark void.
"Heavy artillery", LOL. No, that was just a nuisance raid by some pesky Ukrainians who can't shoot straight. :D
If I brought out the "heavy artillery", you'd go crying back to your safe-space and accuse me of being a "nasty, racist, Trump-supporting Russian" or something equally bizarre.
Some will blame conservatives, some will blame liberals. There's always someone to blame but my perspective is we have diversity to blame. Not saying diversity is a bad thing, but there are so many humans on the planet and they can't agree on anything. 1 billion of them want to do one thing, and 1 billion of them want to do something completely opposite. The result is that we stop making progress and can't get to where we need to be.

The earth and humanity could recover from where we are now, but it would take cooperation on a level we have yet to demonstrate.
While it is true that we, as a species, have caused a lot of damage to the earth and that we are on a path towards extinction unless drastic action is taken, it doesn’t mean that all hope is lost.
There are many steps we can take - both as individuals and as a collective - to help save the planet and its resources. This includes reducing waste, conserving energy, switching to renewable sources of energy, planting more trees, and reducing our consumption of meat.
So while it may seem like the end is near, there is still lots we can do to improve our situation. 😊
@OfDeath And look at Mr. Negativity over here. Profits are GOOD. Without them most people wouldn't have a job or career, because how would they be paid by a company that was consistently in the red? Oh that's right, just find a nice, cushy government "job", where you just sit around all day twiddling your thumbs and coming up with evermore ludicrous ways to screw people over.
@Siri137 And not only THAT, it is only in profitable countries and regions do people start to care about the natural enviroment. The Impoverished and lower profit countries and regions of the world could care less.
@Curmudgeon Exactly! But people like Mr. Death here are too f**king stupid to see that blatantly obvious!
Why are you radical left-wingers always such gloomy people? We'll figure it out, because we always do. We're humanity, we can do anything we put our minds to. We're resilient, intelligent and adaptable.
As for your comment about the "f***ing injection", millions are now dying from heart-failure because they GOT the "f***ing injection"! Stop spouting mainstream media LIES and maybe there'll be hope for you yet.
@msc545 You "believe in science". No you don't. If you did, you'd actually QUESTION what you're told is true, rather than just accept it, because the methodology of science involves constantly testing ideas that we believe to be true, ideas that are accepted by the majority of people who have neither the interest nor the intelligence to understand how science works, and why it's been such a successful path to truth.
@msc545 I've known precisely ZERO people who were not vaccinated contract the coronavirus. I have, however, known quite a few who did get it, but those people were all vaxxed. Is this how your "vaccines" are supposed to work? I've always believed the general idea to be that when you receive an injection, what is contained within that injection is designed to prevent you from suffering from the effects of whatever illness the vaccine was designed to combat. Apparently, that's not the case, because clearly these vaccines aren't working!
@msc545 And yet YOUR "personal experiences" do somehow? Oh don't worry, I won't get "vaccinated"!
And may I ask a favour from you? Don't BREED! We don't need f**king idiots like YOU polluting the gene-pool. We already have to deal with far too many brainless twats who think that gender is "fluid", and that carbon dioxide is a "pollutant".
@msc545 A professional what? Come on, tell me. What are you, and why does your occupation make any difference to anything? I don't care what your "qualifications" may happen to be, because what really matters is whether or not you actually have a case to make, whether what you're saying makes any sense or has any evidence to back it up.
As for "reading science articles" - who the hell doesn't?
Come on, is this the best you can do, the most you have to offer? Actually say something intelligent here, if you're at all capable of doing that (which I seriously doubt).
@msc545 Aw, you poor thing you. Have a good cry. Go on :D
Shrieking insults? Where do I do that? All I did, in my last comment here, was ask you to provide something a little more substantive than simply a claim that you happen to be some kind of "expert" in your own (no doubt, delusional) mind. Is that too much to ask? I guess it must be for people of low class and even lower intelligence.

Nah, the earth will be fine. What humans have done will barely be a glitch in the geological record. In a few million years it will be difficult to find signs we were here, and there maybe nothing in a hundred million. The earth will go on for billions. Future archeologists at most might put us down as a minor extinction event - one of hundreds.
Humans may not fare so well. I think a variety of things from climate change to AI may cause a lot of disruption an deaths in the range of millions to a billion. So there is something to worry about - but its about us, not the earth
Maybe we didn't, but Wesley Crusher (mistakenly) did...

we can reverse the impacts we've made but it takes a major commitment that i don't know the world is willing to make. it would mean overhauling many of the fundamental constructs we have. it would likely mean going against capitalism for a period of time in order to sort of re-structure our infrastructures.
For our way of living, the earth cannot support the population wanting a good life. Just look how China has advanced in the last 50 years. Other countries with big populations will do the same. The Earth cannot support this. Now Global warming will eventually shrink the amount of livable land and farm land so that will be a problem. I live in SW FL and the Property Insurance companies are pulling out because of the hurricanes. Areas of the Gulf this week have reached 98 degrees F in water temp. Now they are worried about the coral reefs dying. Malaria cases are happening again here. Yes we have destroyed the Earth and we heading for a lower living standard World Wide.
How many of these constant apocalyptic predictions from the climate crazies have come true? None. Yet they keep telling us they know everything and we cannot dissent from their omniscience.
And, as usual, you've gotten in wrong. Back in 2021, we were told, including by some crazies here on GAG, that millions upon millions would die if everyone were not forced to take some experimental jab and mask up constantly.
Yea pretty much we also have so much crap in low orbit. Especially since the Chinese decided to blow up one of their own satellites leaving a bunch of space junk floating there with no real way of cleaning it up and no way of rotting. I guess specs might fall to earth from time to time but we really fucked our selves
Global warming has occurred in thew past to a much more worse scaled and life survived, it was due to super volcano eruptions, it wiped out 95% of Earth. It was called the Permian-Triassic extinction. It may be to late for humans and lots of other animals though.
no, we're just doing the exact same dumb shit any other animal on the planet does. exploit all the ressources, till there's not enough ressources to sustain us. as every other dumb animal, we are also too dum to self limit our ressource consumption to sustainable levels.
That is an absurd idea, The earth is actually improving by getting warmer, more heat means more usable land and more energy for life.
It will just take time for the other life on earth to adapt to theses improved conditions just not as much for us. We humans could help other species adapt by moving them to newly developed areas and changing them if we want this to go smoother.
For now however we should preserve their genetics.
I don't know where you live but this is what I see 90% of the time where I live

Looks pretty decent to me.
I will leave the bug eating to Bill gates and his buddies.

Have we destroyed the earth or destroyed the earth for ourselves. All of this has happened before. All of this will happen again.
Or civilisation falls as it has done so before and it takes a few thousand years to rebuild.
Again maybe we've done that b4. Of the past all we find is what's buried in the earth that's survived thousands of years, the oldest being giant stone monuments
"We already let millions die because we didn’t want to get a fckin injection." Oh good lord, the DUPE is high in this one.
The earth Is gonna be just fine, it was here long before us and will be long after. Whether we make it or not the future generations shall see.
It needs to be figured out before 2 billion dirt poor people become 2 billion middle class people who buy up mountain ranges of plastic and burn oceans of fossil fuels.
Destroy the earth. Probably not! Just make it uninhabitable for us dumb humans. “Mother Nature “ will heal the earth until some other stupid species does it again!
I do feels it a little late to reverse what we did but I think maybe we can salvage if what we got left. Maybe if we are lucky we have enough time to find another planet to live on til earth is inhabitable.
Conservatives don't believe that climate change is real, and they control the vast majority of pollution sources, and they believe that even if climate change IS real profits are more important.
Connect the dots.
Why do you think we matter?
Humans are only 10% of the life on Earth, yet we think we know 90% of it.
Nope. Nothing we can do could kill this world. But we have wrecked it for us and many species
destroyed it enough yea, we should try repairing our damages before we reach the fuckery stage
No, the planet will survive barring a hit by a rogue brown dwarf fragment or something. Humanity might not.
As George Carlin famously said, "The planet is fine. WE'RE fucked. The planet is going to be here long after we've gone."
It's been already destroyed. That ain't surprising.
There is no WE. only THEM.
GO ahead and lump yourself in with THEM, but not me sir.
Not yet, we have to try harder
nope
