This is NOT about politics... it's about flagrant disregard for the LAW.

Every time Trump skirts the law, or breaks the law, the GOP screams "politics" and his cult goes off the deep end. But the FACTS are, he breaks laws consistently and has bought his way out the consequences before in the business arena.

Now he's screwed up much worse. Whether it's tax evasion, misuse of campaign funds, endangering the lives of Election Officials via the Big Lie, dereliction of duty and possible sedition for Jan. 6th, calling the Secretary of State and Governor of Georgia asking for election interference to overturn votes, etc, ad nauseum. It never ends with him.

The big issue he faces now is obstruction of justice, and the other 36 counts along with that. There's very little doubt, if any, that he willfully refused to return classified documents that he stole. Even with his favorite judge assigned to the case, he's going to lose. His troubles are just beginning. The NY sexual assault case is just an appetizer.

@bingbongbangbung I have no knowledge of the testimony in that civil case. I didn't follow it, a jury decided he was guilty. My exact quote as above is " The NY sexual assault case in just an appetizer", which was a reference to his "troubles just beginning".

As an aside, your reference to her "proven" attraction to him (again, I did not follow the case so I have no idea what you're talking about), is a straw man and quite irrelevant to the charge of sexual assault. A woman can be attracted to a man without consenting to have sex, or didn't your know that? So here's your scenario: "Well your honor, she told me she thought I was attractive and excused herself to go pee. Self-inflicted wound. He took the docs while still in office. As President he could have declassified everything he had ( I suspect he will actually claim that he did in court) and made it clear that he had, which would have precluded the indictment. Still would call into question his judgment, but the question of criminality would not exist in this case.

It's not automatically "political" just because the person happens to be a politician. The constitution doesn't say that laws don't apply to former presidents or anyone running for president. There's only one set of laws and they apply to everyone.

I think the prosecution is legitimate. I think Trump has clearly committed serious crimes (in Georgia too). The part that seems political is the timing. It’s taken 2 1/2 years to bring this indictment? It seems like they slow walked this to coincide with the election season. They should have prosecuted this much sooner.

If politics weren't involved he would have been charged a long time ago. Obstruction of Justice is a serious crime. Filing a false attestation to the court is a serious crime. Tax evasion is a serious crime. Theft of documents pertaining to the national defense is a serious crime. His hair is a serious crime.
