This is an unjustified political hit job and if Biden doesn't oppose it, he is not fit to be president.

Regardless, Trump's disregard for the 1st Amendment, the reason he should have been impeached, make him unfit to be president. The case isn’t about if Stormy Daniels is lying, though. She may well be. Or maybe Trump is lying, but she was extorting him. The issue is something about the manner in which she was paid off, or where the funds came from. I’ll admit I haven’t even gotten into the case to that level of detail, I just know enough that it’s an issue of campaign finance violations. My feeling of his guilt is based upon his lawyer being charged, convicted, and imprisoned for the same events. They couldn’t go after Trump because he was in office and you can’t indict a sitting president. When they aren’t the president anymore, they’re fair game. And to me, it just seems like kind of a “well, DUH” situation when it comes to if Trump had any involvement in the payoff. I’m sure Cohen isn’t the one who slept with Stormy Daniels back in the day and/or was extorted into paying her to keep quiet years later during his boss’ presidential campaign. Cohen seems like he’s straight out of Central Casting for the role of “Shady Attorney” for sure, but I’m sure everything that was done had to be approved by Trump, if not outright ordered by him. Trump doesn’t strike me as the type to leave final decisions up to others.

OK, let's take this piece by piece.

1. Trump will be brought to Manhattan next week where he will be arraigned. This means the charges against him will be formally announced. He will be "booked" with a mug shot and all. However, he will be let go because he is not a flight risk being, arguably, the most famous person on Earth. He MAY have to surrender his US Passport though.

2. Yes, Trump can campaign. He could even get elected President as a prisoner! Although, in that case, he'd immediately be removed from office via the 25th Amendment, Section 4 in which it will be announced that (by being in prison), Trump could not fulfill his duties as President, so the Vice-President becomes Acting President.

3. Constitutionally, Trump has the right to a "speedy trial". This right exists so that a government can not keep the accused in prison for a long (and indefinite) period before the trial. This is because this would be tantamount to conviction without a trial. However, you are likely correct that a trial may not occur until 2024 simply because Trump's lawyers and the Manhattan DA's Office will take all sorts of steps before the trial. This is common - especially in big cases involving people/groups with money who can hire lawyers smart enough to delay things.

4. Trump will not face a jury of "Biden voters". I explained to you the other day about voir dire - the jury selection process. But even if Trump faced Biden voters, that's irrelevant. Should he face a jury of all Trump voters? Also, if Trump feels he cannot get a fair trial in Manhattan, his lawyers can file for a "change of venue" so that he can get a fair trial.

It's a proper indictment; for one thing, the charges against him are related to offenses he committed before he was President.

His more serious problems are in Georgia and with the Federal Government.

Questionnaires will be mailed to prospective jurors and the court will eliminate anyone that might be impartial, and if by chance any get by, they will be eliminated by judge during the questioning. Fear of revenge is why the ruling party has never gone after ex-presidents.
