I don’t even know what the hell it means anymore, it’s been hijacked and repurposed as a derogatory term and is pretty far from its original meaning.

Going by my understanding of the original meaning of: I am aware that certain prejudices and problems exist in the world that manifest themselves in many facets of society, I am empathetic towards people affected by it, and that I would like to live my life in a way that makes me, at very least, not part of the problem, and ideally be part of the solution in whatever probably-limited way I can…. then I suppose I’m “woke” in that sense.

As for the more recent re-branding of “woke”, I meeeaaannnnn…. it’s hard to say because so much is so badly mischaracterized, it’s hard to address situations that aren’t based in reality. Like it’s painted as some sinister indoctrination plot, lmao, and that’s kind of silly to me, because it just seems like folks are trying to be like “yo, there are all kinds of different people out there, let everybody do their thing and feel like they can get a fair shake in all aspects of life and live free of judgement because they don’t look or act in whatever way majority demographics understand or like, and not feel like they have to hide in their basements to be themselves.” In layman’s terms, “don’t be an asshole and treat everybody with the same dignity and respect you’d want for yourself, and don’t try to make life difficult for anyone, directly or indirectly.” How that’s difficult for anyone, I’ll never understand, but that’s probably why they try to intellectualize or moralize as a façade for their more visceral ignorant feelings.

They market it by demonizing the opposition, basically complain that some entity is infringing on your rights to infringe on others’ rights, or at least to contribute to creating an unwelcoming social environment, it’s all very simple, it’s not high-level reasoning, lmfao, but it sells to enough people to make noise and create an appearance of legitimacy. They’ve branded the opposition as the “woke” crowd, and their brand is “anti-woke.” I’d presume they’d categorize me as “woke”, but my “wokeness” (lmfao) is much more passive than this picture they paint of it. Nevertheless, I’m sure I’d qualify😂

i think woke is a trend right now, like everything seems to trend for a bit then die out. just how many who are woke actually do anything in life to back their stances on anything they deem unacceptable? i see a lot of hypocritical actions and talk in the world and not much positive action toward a better tomorrow. 90 percent of people seem to be activists these days for the personal attention they can possibly gain in the media for their 15 mins, not to bring attention to the cause.

The stereotype of the "Karen" is a great example of that 'cringe' and a lot of the time, they also happen to be woke as they behave so cringy.
