One or the other to pick from was very stupid way to setup a political system here in America.

I’m fed up with it. I voted for Trump despite disliking his personality because:
1) He understands private enterprise and markets. His policy had us in excellent economic shape.
2) Hell would have to freeze over before I voted for Hillary Clinton. However in retrospect I wish hell did freeze over. Reason being I would have taken HRC’s policy ANY day over Biden’s radical leftist policy. Biden is catering to the far left.
3) I originally planned to not vote in 2016. But after I saw liberals calling anyone and everyone who voted for Trump “bigots, racists, deplorables, etc.” it actually motivated me to vote for him because I f*cking hate hate hate modern leftists. Absolutely hate them.
The problem is it is usually the greater evil that tries to portray the cho8ce as between the lesser of two evils. Democrats are super boring. Democrats often get lost in the weeds. Democrats are sometimes even paid off to take shortcuts. But Democrats aren't actively trying to end democracy and bring about an era of Christian nationalism. This isn't the "lesser evil." This is just uninteresting. But the greater evil sure benefits from framing their attempt to establish a permanent authoritarian rule as basically the same thing as the boring legal speak of democrats
Lately, I've been mostly voting for third parties. Being the lesser of evils is not an acceptable standard to get my vote. I'm aware I vote for people who have no chance, but sometimes the candidates are so awful that I won't be happy with either of them, so it makes little difference. Biden sucks but I wouldn't be happy with Trump either. Often I am simultaneously upset with who won and happy the other lost and it would be exactly the same the other way around. We're in a real rut of awful candidates the last two elections and I hope they find two new people for the next one.
No, it's fine. In the 2020 election I voted for Trump, who seemed to be the lesser of two evils, or 3 evils. What you vote is what you get and whatever they do, like Biden.
But to me it doesn't make any logical sense.
Evil is evil. Why not just vote for someone that upholds all things righteous?
Well you have to vote for someone. Either that or don't vote. So when you had Trump, Hillary, and Biden - and it also being a Presidential election - and I didn't like Hillary or Biden, I went with the one who was going to make America GREAT again.
Well, then it's that bad in America. It's like choosing which demon to invite into your home, the big one or small one? 😳
Well they have more parties, like Independant, but they can never muster anyone good to vote for or they drop out early on. So you are still stuck with two party voting.

In a binary political system like he have in the United States it’s not a ridiculous principle. You’re either voting Democrat, or you’re voting Republican you can’t vote for a third-party but that’s basically like throwing away your vote or not voting at all. In places like a France or the U. K it’s ridiculous given they have so many parties over there. I think England has about 4 to 6 parties
In the US system its all we have. I may greatly dislike both candidates, but if one will do more harm that the other, I feel I should at least attempt to minimize that harm.
Its not a game, the people who get elected make a real difference in the world and all we can do is try to do our best.
I wish we had a different voting system but I don't know how to get there from here
It is a game. They're both on the same team; they merely disagree on the speed with which to betray you to tyranny. Third parties or bust!
@ObscuredBeyond You can call it a game but the world will be a different place depending on whether Biden, Trump of DeSantis is president. You may not like any of those worlds (I don't) but if it comes down to it why not choose the least bad?
I've been voting for those whom I view to be the lesser of two evils for many, many years now. It does seem ridiculous, but if it keeps the worst candidate out of office, it's a necessary thing to have to do.
Unfortunately, the U. S. presidency is now occupied by the worst of the worst.
Vote for Vivek Ramaswamy for president in 2024, then the concept of choosing the lesser of two evils won't be necessary.
No, using your vote in the most impactful way possible is not pointless.
But you will still be voting for evil though.
Vote for me then.
I thought this at age 23 as well. At age 28, I gotta say, wake up and smell the shit. Your vote doesn’t have an impact, at least not in the US or Canada. It’s rigged to shit and even irrespective of that fact you vote for people, not policies. You vote for who rules you, they. can promise shit, but it’s usually not followed through on and is done mainly to just to pander to your demographic. What did Trump even do? Troll the shit out of the left, and I loved that, but at the end of the day this fucker towed the line just like the rest.
Same government different public relations dept.
Retain what dignity you have left and do not consent to the terms. Your vote is worse than worthless as your participation in this ritual draws others in as well
At the end of the day trump put in judges who have now allowed states to be able to choose whether or not they are going to fund abortion with taxpayer money, and whether or not they are going to allow elective abortions at all. That's a lot. At the end of the day, we were able to retain more of the money we made under trump. Maybe your life has worn the fight out of you, but things were definitely better under trump, and if every conservative person had your mindset and just let the liberals win all the time, our country would probably already be to the point of allowing post birth abortions regularly like the liberals want. If you think that your vote is worthless then just don't vote.
@LazerBean I’m not saying we didn’t get thrown a bone or two, but the really important shit didn’t change. The military industrial complex soldiered on. Fking operation warp speed? What kind of maniac does that? So many life threatening reactions to those poorly tested “vaccines”. Not to mention he basically laid a trap for his fanbase to get arrested and put on lists with that “insurrection” incident. Cops are still assholes who can abuse your rights, taxation is still unfair and you still have no say where that money goes.
And most importantly, Trump only got in because the people who really run the country wanted him in. If you followed the last election at all you’ll know beyond a doubt that the voting system is rigged to shit. Your vote doesn’t matter. You think you have some control and you got a little goodie bag for your efforts, but that is an illusion that is prescribed to you to keep you complacent. Your idea of “fighting” is going to the ballot box and that’s just what your masters want.
The only vote you really have is your dollar. The fight isn’t worn out of me sis, I hit the streets in protest when my government fucks around too hard and I disobey unjust laws to make a point. I’ve had the cops called on me several times and it’ll probs happen again. You’re just not seeing the big picture yet.
You genuinely believe that your petty crimes and sign waving have more of an impact than the millions of wishy-washy, self-righteous voters would have if they just used their brain to vote instead of their feelings? I totally understand where the embitterment comes from in feeling like your vote doesn't count, but if people would have voted smart to begin with then there wouldn't even be a need to protest and throw tantrums. We had a problem with dirty cops in our area for quite some time. People bitched and moaned about it, and nothing happened. Then we voted in a decent man as sheriff, and all of a sudden half of the jail employees are replaced and the cops are acting right. Maybe not as many changes as you would have liked happened under trump, but it is better to have a president that doesn't change anything than it is to have a president that changes things for the worse. But since all future presidential elections will likely be stolen, I'm sure you'll find that out soon enough.
The freedom convoy in Canada did move mountains. You really don’t see the big picture. You are admitting that the elections are rigged right? I’m not talking about your local sheriff, I’m talking about federal elections. They are 100% rigged therefore your vote does not matter and if you followed the trump biden election you’d know this beyond a doubt.
@LazerBean your “basic step” is the equivalent of sitting at home watching TV. Actually it’s worse. Your participation lends legitimacy to this circus and actually acts as a form of consent
@LazerBean those who do not vote are THE ONLY ONES who have a right to complain. Get this through your head
Philosophically it’s daily fare for humanity. So no.
Honestly, would you really ever be happy? And if you were happy I’d fear it’s a sham, like Trump.
If a voting system comes down to voting the "lesser of two evils" that system has failed.
It may be having a useless politician is a lot better than having an evil one if those are your only two choices other than to not vote at all.
The term 'useless politician' is a bit redundant. All politicians are useless.
It seems to have worked for the past few hundred years...
Simples...
