Russia is winning.
If it's goal had been to take Ukraine, it would have executed a "shock and awe" campaign like the U. S. did in Iraq. The war would have been over in days.

Instead, after 8 years of negotiation and being faced with nothing but belligerence, it had no choice but to launch a measured response.

It wanted to protect the ethnic Russians and Russian speaking people in Ukraine and minimize civilian casualties. It didn't want to alienate the Ukrainian people. It wanted them as allies.
It didn't want to be seen as the imperialist aggressor that the U. S. always falsely claimed.
Of course, it had to protect its naval base in Crimea.
And it had to send a message that it was serious about not allowing Ukraine to become part of NATO.

But the Dr. Strangelove, psychopath, war pigs in the U. S. State Department were joyous over Russia's reaction. They love using proxy armies against countries they deem to be "enemies". So the Ukrainian people became expendable in that effort, just as did the people of Libya and Syria against our proxy terrorists.

The added bonuses were:
1. The U. S. arms industry would benefit financially.
2. International oligarchs and corporations could gobble up Ukrainian land and resources as Ukrainian farmers fled and the country became a failed state like Libya.

So, at this point, even though the war slogs on, Russia's military is nowhere near exhausted and the Ukrainian military is on it's knees.
Russia's economy is doing better than "western" economies and it it continually gaining new economic allies.

I don't know why the west seems to love Nazis, but I hope at this point that Russia hunts down and punishes every Nazi in Ukraine. If that happens, I know that the remaining Ukrainians will cheer.

I am of a similar opinion.

“International oligarchs and corporations could gobble up Ukrainian land and resources ” Larry Fink already got the contracts for BlackRock. He basically owns whatever is left of Ukraine. The Xelensky regime eliminated worker protections and unionization rights as part of the deal.

“Russia's economy is doing better than "western" economies…” Yes, this was entirely foreseeable to unbiased observers, but not to the USG. The clowns in charge actually think what we count as GDP (rent saved through homeownership, financialization/derivatives, etc.) is worth as much as production of tangible goods and commodities. The sanctions actually galvanized the Russian economy. Furthermore, the “just-in-time” supply chains of the West put us at a huge disadvantage. The Russians, having learned lessons from WW2, maintained massive unused plant capacity and raw material stockpiles. They’ve ramped up shell production from a starting point of hundreds of thousands of shells per month. The whole West has doubled production to 34,000 shells per month.

“I don't know why the west seems to love Nazis…” The same reason the USG funds, trains, and uses al-Qaeda (and similar groups) as proxies in the Middle East and Africa. The elites hate the ideologies of both groups, so don’t mind seeing them killed in furtherance of USG objectives, and they also like having ideologically motivated proxies.

Great question. It’s a bit of a stalemate right now. Overall thus far - Russia. Unfortunately. They have succeeded in turning maby Ukraine cities to rubble, massacring her soldiers and citizens, making the vast remainder citizens free, wrecking her economy, destroying much of her military equipment and holding ground in the Ukraine.


While unfortunately the Ukraine has not mounted much of an offensive against Russia.


God bless the Ukrainians. May they win and may the warmonger Putin and those who aided him be held fully accountable for waging a war of aggression and their war crimes.

Mostly when I think about the war what I think is that there are a lot of young people, people who if I saw them in the street I would regard as little more than children are dying, horribly, because I continue to allow evil to triumph.

At the moment Ukraine has the momentum from being on the offensive but is struggling against pretty major defensive Russian trenches. Without airpower it cannot do a combined arms campaign because a major arm is missing.

However it seems to me somewhere along the 2000 Km line they will find a weak point and be able to exploit it.

it depends who you listen to. Since Biden is going to give Ukraine cluster bombs it must mean we are getting to the bottom of the armament barrel. That is not a good sign so maybe Russia is winning.

Also, without direct funding, supply of weapons, and surveillance/intelligence from NATO this war would be over in two weeks. NATO is deeply involved. To quote Annalena Baerbock: “We are at war with Russia…”
