Russia is winning the war. You have desperate terror attacks by Ukraine which usually means they are about finished.

Who has most destruction? Has any Russian city been captured inside Russia? Is the Kremlin surrounded by Ukraine forces?

Is Ukraine economy functioning? Are their schools operating?

If Russia says no more new NATO members , dual rights for Russian citizens in Ukraine , and Russia keeps half the territory they won , should Ukraine and NATO agree and end the war?

Both sides are losing. Lots of dead people. Lots of destroyed towns and land. They are fighting over a wasteland.

Who will win? Does it matter when the prize is worthless? The people who lived there have nothing to go back to, no matter who controls the area. That has been true for a long time.

It's a stalemate. The loser is the one who gets tired of a game with no winner. The winner is the one who is more stubborn. Not all wars are like this, but plenty throughout history have been like this.

There can be no winner. But then right from the start the only thing that mattered is that both sides can claim they won, even if they didn't. As long as they can pretend they accomplished something, they can stop fighting and save face.

Until that time, they will keep killing each other over a wasteland where nobody wants to live. Those people found a new home and like it a lot better. Their children are learning a new language in school. Their children are mixing with children from other countries, and making friends. Why would they leave and go back to a wasteland? Most won't.

I've seen a LOT of wars in my life, at least a hundred of them. This is one of the most retarded ones. A war of stubbornness and pride - not the first war like that - not even close. But why? That's what makes it so damn retarded.

Well the Russian Black Sea fleet have performed really well, okay they do a good glug glug noise. The 3 day special operation is really going to plan, I mean fielding T-55 and T-62 tanks on day 3 and a lot, is never a sign of desperation. There are not a huge number of senior commanders from 2020 still alive, those high windows they fallout of. At the start of the special 3 day operation, it was because of nato expansion… the result of all of this. Before the latest part of the war (it started in 2014), NATO defence spending was at an all time low, Sweden and Finland were very firmly independent and often anti NATO, now after the 3 day special operation, we have a huge ramp in NATO spending, an increase in newer technology platforms being funded, Sweden and Finland in NATO and the Baltic states firmly anti Russian. Yeah a master stroke by the Russians to start their 3 day special operation, it’s not a war. A country without a navy has decimated the Russian Black Sea fleet, one of the strongest navies on earth. It is easy to get peace Russia with draws to original borders.

And ask a few awkward questions, like how can anyone say that Russia is winning if for the last two years at least, Russia hasn't been able to either remove the government in Kiev if that is or was their objective, nor neutralise the Ukrainian Army? Why is there a stalemate?

Col. MacGregor is fool. I've seen him make claims that are just patently untrue and downright silly (ex. for the last year at least he's been claiming that Ukraine has no more young people to draft). No populace can win an international war. People only lose.

I think it's quite short-sighted to think that Russia will militarily defeat the Ukraine and then it's all over and everyone in the NATO leadership says "Aw. Shame. Anyway..." This whole conflict was masterminded by the US State Department and its beginnings put into effect by a division of the CIA. This is the big one, and the US and the UK have been waiting for many decades for this moment.

As such, the conflict has nothing to do with "Russia vs the Ukraine". It is the armed forces of the United States who are going to be attacking Russia, along with their NATO allies. Not just the Ukraine.

Neither side is winning in my opinion because Russia attacking the Ukraine actually led to more countries joining the NATO. Since Sweden and Finland wouldn´t have joined otherwise.
The war will end if either sides comes to a point where they can´t fight any longer. The problem I see with your proposition is that it not only provides Russia with the fundament to take the rest at some point later. It also would show other countries like China for instance that international law and the ban of wars isn´t that much deal. Starting a war against another country won´t cost you. NATO won´t let Russia determine who´s part of them and who isn´t. That´s not going to happen.
On the other hand I agree with you I also don´t think that Ukraine will win. So I let other people decide because the situation is messy as politics is.

Neither country is winning, it's a stalemate at this point, the only ones really benefitting off the Ukraine war are multinational corporations who are benefiting off the sales of weapons to Ukraine, which Ukraine are purchasing with with loans that have a stipulation that Ukraine must put up government assets including farmland for sale. Ukraine is already starting to sell off it's assets to multinational corporations. Ukraine's best days are behind them, and the US and NATO are partly to blame, as they sabotaged 2 separate peace agreements that would have prevented the war in exchange for Ukraine remaining natural/no NATO membership. It's heartbreaking that a generation of Ukrainian men are being sent to die in a war that could have been prevented protecting land that's being snatched up by multinational, western corporations.

also the crimea bridge gets CLOSED frequently, ships can't bring supplies there due to the danger of ukraine missiles that already damaged or sunk many russian warships, the bigger ones! forcing the rest to flee!
ukraine has successfully reversed the blockade against ukraine to a naval blockade of crimea, because except for the land in East ukraine, crimea is ALREADY under seige!

When you win a war you capture cities of the opponent. Your country has a working economy. None of these are true for Ukraine. Wishing ain't going to win the war.

Russian is clearly winning , Russian people are comfortable. Russia economy is good as ever if not better.

at first russians were winning land but actualy from start, russia lost battle for capital n more losses for other major cities.
russia lost a major warship from the start.
ukraine reclaimed a major city in the south and a big chunk in north east.
both sides lost much equipment but russia lost its best jets and also their best tank soldiers crews.
and thousands of battle tanks and 40% of the largest russian warships in black sea forcing them to flee.
the problem is russia can pay the big price but keep fighting!

How is Russia suffering? Putin is rich , the sanctions made oil skyrocket and he is still selling it to BRICS. No Russian cities are under Ukraine occupation. Their grocery stores are full. Their people are living the same pre Ukraine. You can barely tell they are at war. Like here in US during Vietnam war.
