Woman marries man who sent her to jail, thoughts?

Question

She was a financial advisor who scammed the man and other people for a total of 1.7€ million. She did three years in jail and during this time her victim started visiting her, and they got romantically involved.

Now they are married and she's out on probation, claiming to have seen the error of her ways and working as an anti-scam consultant. Some think the change is genuine, but many others think she's pulling another yet another scam.

There’s a lot of leeway in these financial fraud cases. A lot of times the person committing the fraud is talented enough to invest and generate returns. The victims usually just want the money back so the courts will work with the victims on negotiating a deal to make them whole again. Not every victim just wants the scam artist to rot in jail while it takes 400 years to get their stolen money back. She is likely going to be successful in her career again but she will be repaying back the ~$2M much sooner out of prison than making $40,000 per year as an inmate.

Also, how many folks just want recognition for what they're good at and to be able to do it? She's got the consulting job now.

I work in the system. I asked a woman if she liked her previous prison. This was her answer:

"I liked being in prison, but I never liked the baby cookers."

Wow, this is new lol. I was sort of thinking that too, that she might still be scamming, just taking advantage of his feelings and using it as an opportunity to get out. But then the caveat is that she's out and is now an anti-scam consultant. I don't think too many con artists would really do that, but then you never really know, cons are sick people with literally no conscience.

I personally think he's a complete idiot to fall in love with someone who criminally wronged him, but to each their own lol.

I mean if it's legit then that's actually a really cool story and honestly I would hope a guy who got scammed would at least be a little discerning when getting into a relationship with his scammer so I like to think that she really did turn over a new leaf. (But like even if she didn't it's still kind of a cool story, just significantly more disheartening.)

It is an unlikely match. Obviously the guy is convinced and is getting very good sex as part of the girl's contrition. In her anti scam consultant role hopefully she has properly advised him to have separate bank accounts to her.
