A Texas man was sentenced to 45 years in prison in connection with the murder and brutal beating of his premature baby girl, who died less than two weeks after being brought home, according to authorities.

On April 30, 2018, the baby, Jazmine Rose Robin, was born premature at just 29 weeks. After spending two months in the neonatal intensive care unit, she was declared healthy and released to her parents on July 3, 2018.

However, less than two weeks later, the infant was back in the hospital with massive injuries, including head trauma, officials said. She died at the hospital and the Houston Police Department investigated.

According to prosecutors, an autopsy was completed and showed that Jazmine had at least 70 to 80 total fractures, including dozens of rib fractures and long-bone fractures. The baby also had two skull fractures, retinal hemorrhages in both eyes and old and new brain bleeds.

The baby’s father, 28-year-old Jason Robin, pleaded guilty to murder for his part in the death of Jazmine and he was sentenced to 45 years in prison. Jason had been engaged to the baby’s mother, who is still facing charges.

Part of Jason’s plea agreement has him testifying against the baby’s mother for her role, officials said. He also cannot appeal the conviction or the punishment and he has to serve at least half of the sentence before being eligible for parole.

In a statement, Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg said, “We’re here to stand up for innocent victims, and it’s hard to imagine a more innocent victim than a newborn baby. Baby Jazmine deserved to live, and we have worked hard since her death to get justice for her.”

The "baby" isn't the one getting the justice. Society is presumably benefitting (somehow) from the "justice" of the result. In a certain way, "justice" would be for the perpetrator to get "at least 70 to 80 total fractures, including dozens of rib fractures and long-bone fractures. . . . two skull fractures, retinal hemorrhages in both eyes and old and new brain bleeds."

From a logical standpoint, now "society" has to pay about $60,000 a year to pay for the care, feeding and lodging of this poopy-head as a reward for killing the infant.

I looked up the story, I wish I hadn't. This breaks my heart. That precious baby girl deserved so much better than than the human garbage she got for parents. I'd like 5 minutes alone with either, or both of them. Justice would be them enduring what that baby girl had to endure, every day for the rest of their lives. May they rot in hell.

All it takes for him to get his just deserve is for the other prisoners to hear what he did, and for the right prison guard to eventually "mistakenly" transfer him out of protective custody into general population. The guys already doing life in prison will take care of the rest.

He should not get parole and serve the full 45 years. But it sounds like, as a plea agreement to testify against his girlfriend, he was offered parole after half the sentence was served.

In this case the baby didn't fall down the stairs, and due to her injuries I would call that pretty clear evidence.

They let Leslie Van Houten out of prison after 53 years. So unless some inmate shortens his stay he will most likely be out after 20 years.

Maybe I’m not getting the case completely. But what I meant was the guy testified against his co-defendant. So they had to “bribe” him to do it. Just the way our system works.
