This is not justice on so many levels. :(
Do you think this girl was wrongfully convicted? or that the sentence was too harsh?
This is not justice on so many levels. :(
Well, I can't really say whether or not she was wrongfully convicted. But, in all honesty, if she was guilty, that's actually quite lenient compared to some people. And, is she was the driver (which I'm not saying she is - since you said their reasonable doubt), I say a life for a life. She got it too easy, in my opinion. Mistake or no mistake, 3 people will never be able to have a life. She at least has a chance to have one. Sorry, but she deserves a lot worse for what happened.
This answer is just in reply to if she did it. If she didn't, sorry if my reply is a bit harsh.
I don't believe she was the one driving due to the evidence and should not be serving such a harsh sentence.
I am not familiar with that case, but it sounds pretty normal. They stack the charges like that all the time. They are even ignoring double jeopardy and claiming that now the federal courts can go after a person for the same crime if they are found innocent in the state trial. If they want, they will do anything they can to lock someone away for as long as possible. The whole system needs a serious overhaul. Compared to other countries our prison sentences are extremely high.
Second-degree murder is always killing someone on purpose There is no second-degree murder unless you meant to kill them. The dictionary definition of murder is above the law but not above law enforcement by any means what so ever But if she's locked up now obviously she was responsible
um did you even look it up, I said the penalty she got was EQUIVALENT to it.. not that the crime she did WAS that
Nope I just thought it was the other way around I guess some states could have penalties for manslaughter that are quite severe But I've never heard of anybody In North Carolina getting More than a five or maybe six Year sentence for manslaughter If there is in fact a felony murder law that I do not know about Then all felony murder laws to my knowledge or equivalent to murder two I have lived in North Carolina all my life I think I know a good deal about the legal system here.
Dude, it was not felony murder. It was a Class E felony. Look it up
Now I remember hearing about this I think it was a three strikes law involving something

Just looking at what the evidence is reported, I’m not sure that she was the driver. The jury did not get to hear evidence that she might not be the driver. The DA based much of it on one EMT ( I’m a nurse and ex EMT, as well as a ex
Military pilot that has seen many a crash) with no training whatsoever in crash investigation, said as to her being the driver, even though no one remained in the driver seat after the crash. My money is in the young man being the driver… that’s just how it usually goes…
Secondly all of them were wrong, they were all drunk and decided to get into that car with each other and make their way home to wherever… while 3 paid with their lives , that doesn’t mean the survivor should bear the brunt of the guilt behind bars
She just happened to be the fortunate one to survive
Since you provided no links, I have no idea what your idea of "reasonable doubt" is.
You're kidding about the STACKED charges, right? She was sentenced to 31-47 months of consecutive time for each person she killed. So you're telling me that 12 years (MAX) is too much punishment for killing three people?
Sorry, I'm not familiar with the case, but from the one source I read, it doesn't seem unreasonable.
She may not have been the driver and yes, she did not mean for anyone to get killed either way.
That's only based on your assertion. Not any evidence I've seen. Of course she didn't intend to kill anyone, but it still happened. Three people are dead.
she made an Alford plea which was a mistake
But that's her mistake. Not a travesty of justice as you claim.
yes because even if she was guilty, the appropriate thing to do is CONCURRENT sentencing, which means she should be free in one week
Not for killing 3 people. Sorry, bud. I don't know if she's a relative of yours, but no way would I consider it justice if she was out in a week for killing my child.
No dude, in a week the FIRST sentence will be eligible for release, and that is the ENTIRETY of what she should've gotten
She was driving drunk and killed three people? Stupid is as stupid does.
No sympathy. NEXT
no, sketchy evidence that she was even driving
