you know the money that goes to Ukraine literally can't be spent on building up the US right? governments allocate funds to different departments. foreign aid, defense and military spending is allocated and ear marked. it cannot be simply redistributed to some other thing.
the funny thing is that when liberals argue to reduce military spending they are usually meant with calls of being anti-american, communists, etc. now many conservatives are arguing against the spending they have supported nearly 100 years but will not discuss reducing military spending
@RealMarek yes. that is what i said. but we only reduced military spending twice in the last 100 years. but once the budget is set you can't reallocate is my point about spending on Ukraine. the money is allocated and cannot be reallocated (yes you can write a different budget when the time comes) so we may as well use the money already earmarked for military/defense spending
@RealMarek but they will never do that. the reality isn't the problem of budget allocations being set but how we budget to begin with. we don't need 3/4 of a trillion allocated to a department not engaged in any wars. but it's our military industrial complex so it's something that is very unlikely to change. i mean even dems claim they don't want to be in wars still increase the defense budget because so much of our economy is built around it.
it sucks. we should have less money in the defense budget for sure. BUT tax money already allocated to defense/military is best spent supporting a nation defending it's sovereign borders
thanks for MHO
It's funny because all the people who say they wanna spend money on their own country first are all the ones who always moan the loudest when anyone wants to spend more money on public education or welfare, disability, infrastructure, healthcare, science, whatever it is. Anything except military spending in the U. S. they're against it. But as soon as there's an international crisis they can't wait to point out all the things in their own country that need fixing at least until the crisis is over then they want the government to keep their dirty hands of the money they earned with hard work.
It's really a drop in the ocean. We are supplying weapons that the US military is replacing. Its like giving your little sister your old clothes when you are buying new ones.
The USA gave so much arms to Ukraine they are dangerously low on defence for their own country. Yet the countries infrastructure is failing?
The spend more on military than most countries in the world combined.
lol. $131,000,000,000 could pay for 58,000 teachers' salaries for an entire 40-year career. It could provide 758,000 homes for veterans or people struggling to get on their feet. It's nearly $800 per taxpayer in the US.
@gorydetails U. S. defense spending increased by $71 billion in 2021-23. That's more money for workers producing arms etc..
The same thing you are saying was said during WW2. By the end of the war, the United States had extended over $49 billion in Lend-Lease aid to nearly forty nations but the war was in the US intrest financially. What is given to Ukraine Is a loan which they will pay back like Britain had too after ww2 and the rebuilding of Ukraine will be done by us companies with us manufactured goods like Iraq was. Like the defeat of the nazis in ww2 and of Japan the defeat of Russia is in the US economic and financial intrest and Ukraine is the rock the us will break Russia on.
If you want to know what the us is doing and why what happened happened you got to look at the end result, watch for the dnd result of the Ukraine war.
Lol, this regional conflict is nothing like WW2. The US has not been attacked.
@gorydetails in ww1 & ww2 the US supplied the Allies and gave war loans without ever being attacked by Germany.
A good old Russell Brand lol. But we should split it in half tbh

My tax money should go to the country I am in and that nation should prioritize the citizens otherwise its nothing more than taxation without representation
I don't want any of my money going to any global conflict that doesn't directly affect the US.
Here’s the problem: we don’t get to say where our tax money goes. It can’t and will never work that way.
As a UK citizen I probably see Russian aggression as more of a problem than you do.
Absolutely not , putin should already nuke them ffs
I think we wasted enough money over there.
In my pocket please.
