+1 yNo… Never…
I have a little cousin, he was very naughty and spoiled, he didn’t listen anyone, he also didn’t listen to me in the beginning.
Everyone were losing their patience with him.
As for me, though, instead of losing patience and becoming too rude or strict to him, even though he was quite honestly annoying as hell,
instead of being rude, I just praised all his good little things.
Everything he did well, I praised. Everything bad - I ignored.
And, in no time, he turned into my little cute kitten, who always listened to what I said and always tried to deserve my approval.
He has been acting very nice and he is no longer as spoiled as he was, at least around me.
That’s what works.
Being civil, being kind, being understanding, trying to find strategies that would benefit both, without hurting them.
Beating someone is never a good solution. That child is also a human being, so what that he is little and you can be stronger than him? Does it give us right to hurt them when they annoy us?

+1 yNo, never. Physical discipline doesn't improve child's behaviour. It only causes harm and leads to more issues.

+1 ySurprisingly, this right wing guy is with you. I get "Breaking a Brat" if a child is deliberately delinquent, but most kids just need to be taught right from wrong first, and scaring them with a butt whooping *without first making it clear exactly *why* they might deserve a butt whooping* for wrongdoing, doesn't actually instruct your child, all it does is terrorize him or her:

+1 yYes- under severe or extreme circumstances. It certainly shouldn't be a go-to; that just teaches them to solve their own problems with violence, but it's not hard to imagine reaching the point where everything milder has failed, and some behavior is too dangerous to let continue uncorrected.
It's not something I'd WANT to do, but I don't think removing it entirely from consideration is very smart. It's kind of an indicator that YOU have failed as a parent, but some failures are worse than others.
30 Reply671 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. I think it is but as a true last resort. I'd never wanna hit my kids as hard or as frequently as I was hit. But if they cross the line & I've exhausted all other efforts, maybe a little spanking won't be too bad. I'd rather that than they suffer the harsh consequences the world has.
But ofc, I'd like to approach these things by a case by case basis. I wouldn't spank my kid because they're talking back or something little like that. I'd only spank them if they were clearly disobey what I'm saying & really need an instant power dynamic shift for their safety.

+1 yI believe in it. I do not mean slapping, punching and kicking them.
I believe in physical education as a punishment. It's still physical punishment. What? You thought it was funny to bully that other kid for having an ugly rusty car? You're walking to school tomorrow. Maybe for the whole week. Learn how valuable a car is, no matter what it looks like.
40 ReplyNope. Let's just say my dad thought that spanking was an appropriate means of punishment when I was pretty little. I will probably never be as comfortable around him as I am around my mom and I absolutely will never do this to my own children (should I have any lol). If your kid is learning to do the right think out of fear of physical retaliation, then they're not actually learning about why what they did is wrong, just that they should be scared. That's messed up.

Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yYes. No true loving parent wants to spank their children but at some point yelling or scolding or whatever the alternatives are never work. As much as I hated spanking my son I felt it was necessary to learn before he learned it on his own out in this unrelenting world. By then it may be too late, committing a crime that can’t be fixed by a time out or a spanking. Does it always work? No of course not, but in my son’s case it did. He’s now 17, very helpful, respectful. Does what he needs to do, shows manners not only at home but in public to strangers, authority, etc. I was spanked as well as my brothers. Three of us joined the military, the other became a firefighter who currently have families of their own. So I think in our cases it did us good. No I’m not talking about a beating either, slapping your kids in the face or something like that.
20 ReplyYes. I was spanked as a kid and if I have kids, I would be fine with spanking them. A 4 year old can't reason many things out, but they do understand "action = pain = bad". It's like touching the hot stove but much less dangerous. Besides after a few spankings, all I needed was the threat if I was misbehaving too badly and I'd straighten out.
20 ReplyI saw a video of a father boxing with his son, because the son wanted to join a gang and the father found out. He got hit, but the father is right to be angry and is learning the kid how to defend himself in a fist fight. It's a win win if you think about it.

+1 yYou do you.
Personally I think in the right circumstances there's nothing wrong with raising your voice, it emphasises an urgency and importance to. what you're saying. Some minor corporal punishment isn't an issue if targeted for the right reasons. You can't reason much with toddlers, are times when they need to know something is wrong.20 Reply 6.5K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. No, it is not, and it should be a crime, the same as it would be if someone assaulted an adult.

+1 ySometimes, a spanking is appropriate, in order to get their attention, after they've done something really bad or dangerous, and to let them know you are serious in the discipline. It's important, though, that the spanking must not physically injure them.
10 Reply 27.2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. I hardly ever hit my kids. I think the only time I did it was when we were driving home from a road trip and they were fighting in the back seat. I told them if they did not stop I was going to pull the car over. They decided to call my bluff so I stopped and dragged each one of them out of the car and gave them a couple of good whacks. They were more surprised than anything else but they were quiet for almost a half hour.

+1 yYea it's more of a Gen z thing to think it's unacceptable, physical discipline works, I don't recall a time you tell someone don't do that and they are like oh okay, I grew up with normal physical discipline and I believing it works personally
20 Reply3.6K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Violence is never acceptable. It is just awful parenting.

+1 yI think physical punishment will only push them away. Children are like clay, you need to mould their behaviour with love and care.

instead talk and explain in jokes works best

+1 yI really hope you don't have any kids as parents who won't discipline their kids are the worst. They are those fucking people who have their kids running around and screaming out of control annoying everyone else around and they won't do a thing to stop them. These kids then grow up to be useless entitled dipshits. I am glad the YouTube comments section put you in your place.

They will likely grow up to be drug addicts, whores, homeless, or in prison.
