I've heard some people say that they don't agree with the patriarch? What is the patriarch and what's wrong with it? How can it be improved?

Here's the problem you are confusing patriarchy, the political structure that has men in charge, and by and large excludes women from positions of authority, and patriarchy theory the theory that men have used this power to benefit themselves at the expense of women.

When people today talk about the "Patriarchy" they are referring to power structures that exclude and marginalize women, not rule by men.
