Just got a knock at the door and of course I look a hot mess rn lol but he was gay, so I wasn’t looking to impress 🤣 He literally said my full name as well as my sisters and was like, “I need to tell you girls why not to vote for ___ (for whatever election is today).” And I let him yap on. Then he was like “So have you already went and voted today? Have you made a decision?” Lmao he literally looked like he was ready to attack. Never had this shit happen lol. #FeelFreeToList
+1 yHad that happen at my parents' house - I was visiting.
I could hear mum talking to some guy on the porch & dad (who has dementia) sort of commenting as well.
I was in the kitchen which is close by the door (the porch is a wrap around) and mum happened to raise her voice & ask me about voting.
Now... I happened to be working on opening a coconut at the same time. And really whacked the thing with the hammer (was fed up) so there was a big reverbrating bang sound... and calmly said nope, we're not voting (we had, not for his party).
Never seen a person run off the porch so fast.

1.9K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Nope, no one knocks on our door and sticks around Cora and Toby are quick to say "hi, how are you? Let me get a human for you." And for some reason they don't stick around.

Toby is on the left, Cora on the right. Oden their brother in the middle left us for the next world a few years ago. Of course that sounds like "Ruff, ruff, grrrr... ruff... ruff." Which can also be interpreted as "get off my lawn!"

00 Reply To put it bluntly that is illegal in my country Portugal.
You have the day before the election there can be no campaigning at all, and neither canvassing on election day, which has a more severe punishment (not hard jail time obviously, but the judge would frown on such a thing).
Also I have a suggestion I'll DM you soon about, I'm dead tired now.
Cheers for my first answer in a long time... 👍🏻11 Reply- +1 y
Okay :)
No, I have never had that happen to me anywhere (city, rural address or state) I have lived.
Elections do seem to be getting more and more shady…. or at least have the outward appearance that unethical things might be happening. Unfortunately those in charge are doing nothing to bolster the perception. If it were me, and someone accused me of unethical behavior/misconduct (knowing I hadn’t, assuming that was true), I would be throwing as much detail, documentation, video, proof in the opposition’s face proving their accusations wrong…. Unfortunately, we aren’t seeing any of that either.

+1 yNo, because frankly I deal with Jehova Witnesses enough, I don't political fanatics either.
Worst I get is spam texts about elections and candidates. I have only encountered people trying to discourage me from voting specifically at booths.

+1 yI've come from a big political family, my late granddad who was former deputy sheriff of our county told me once that no person is allowed to sway you away from voting from whom ever you want to vote for and that it is illegal to do sorry for my language, but people do this shit all the time around election time it is your freedom to vote for who ever you want to always same old freaks lurking around Lol

@DizzyDesii You're welcome
+1 yVotes, at least where I'm from, are supposed to be private and anonymous. So no one should know who you voted for, unless you tell them. But before almost every election, our house would get a call to ask who we are voting for, and if they can count on our votes. We let my mom handle that call, because that's the only time she turns into a "Karen", and for good reason. She handles it pretty well, and we get a laugh out of it.
01 Reply- +1 y
Yea i felt they should remain private and anon

+1 yI live in the country so to have anyone just show up is rather rare. They will however blow my phone up with political bs around election time. I think for the last presidential election I got like 10 calls from Republicans and one from the Dems. That's not including the texts. Shit got old real fast.
