I can tell you why. There is no freedom of speech.. its sad really... It does look like they are dropping the charges, But it should NEVER EVER have happened in the first place. Shame on the UK and its idiotic laws. A "Homophobic Public Order Offense"... Its sad when people value feelings over facts, where hurting someones precious fee fees can get you jailed.

There's all kinds of similar laws on the statute books here in the UK. The laws are worded in such a ambiguous way that it's fairly easily to be criminalised for enacting one's freedom of speech or right to protest, which de facto no longer exist in this country.

The problem is that UK law says a hate crime is committed if a person within a “protected class” perceives themselves to be the target of hate. It is incredibly difficult to defend against an accusation that you made someone feel a certain way.
