Because they don't fight back.

I realize that women rarely get into PHYSICAL fights, but get in plenty of verbal altercations, but the rule still applies: you have to fight back, even if only verbally.

Bullies are almost always people who have themselves been bullied - often by a family member - and feel powerless - so they bully others to try to feel powerful again. But this only works when they are able to attack and the other person doesn't defend themselves, and especially if they react badly. The last thing a bully wants is for their "victim" to calmly respond with a vicious attack as if it's a routine thing they do every day, and completely unremarkable. This makes the bully look bad, and makes them feel powerless again, which is the opposite of what they were hoping to achieve.

If you defend yourself with strength and purpose, even if you don't exactly "win", you still make yourself a lousy victim for a bully. A bully wants a "good victim" - someone who gives up and cries, or just accepts the torture and is humiliated. A "victim" that fights back and scores some points on the bully doesn't make the bully look good, and usually the bully will lose interest and seek a "better victim" elsewhere. And everyone else will respect the person who fought back, and won't respect the person who just gave up.

As awful as that sounds from some perspectives, it's the truth.

There is only one way to deal with a bully... you got to fight back. Very seldom it is worth the bully effort to want to fight with you ever day. But if you just sit there and take it, then that is what it is.

I mean I have had my ass kicked by a bully, and I got up the next day and the next day and went at it again and again... eventually he just stopped. Like he was tired with the fighting, and he knew I was not going to take his shit and getting punched held no fear for me, because he could never knock me out, and I would keep fighting.

But if get knocked not and then refuse to get up again... well that's on you.

Usually quiet people get picked on the most.. I used to get picked on even if I fought back reason being the one guy I think hated me since Grade 2 because I ignored him, I am pretty sure he liked me because when I dressed up for picture day he never bothered me once he just looked at me. Girls were mean as well even when I wanted to fight they would always run away. This is why the best place to fight is in the class no where for them to run I should of just hit them in the back of the head with a chair.. the teacher would of been pissed at me but at least those punks would of learned don't fuck with me..

people who get bullied tend to have parents who have low social skils and dont bring friends home and are isolated. they dont teach them about the world and havnt explained how to stick up for themselves. with bullying its the parents fault on both sides always.

Because some of us genuinely need to be bullied and shamed by another person. Sometimes the most seemingly vexing answers are the simplest. Of course, not everyone who's being bullied recognizes the need for them to feel cowed in the presence of someone bigger, stronger or who just simply possesses a greater degree of leverage than we can hold our ground against, but ultimately, I firmly believe that most people who are bullied know, deep down, that they're better for it today.
