Why do people bully?

Whether it is in the case of children or adults, school or workplace, bullying unfortunately happens to people of all age groups and those who get constantly bullied in childhood end up being affected even as adults.

There are countless of things we hear regarding why people bully, reasons ranging from having a trouble upbringing to being jealous or secretly even liking the person that they are bullying, but none of them settle fine with me. I know there is no one universal answer, but nonetheless I'd like to know your thoughts.

For people to bully there's probably a mix of different reasons in different proportions depending on the individuals and circumstances. Sure nevertheless is:

- The rejection of differences
- Jealousy resulting in the urge to prove themselves superior while often struggling secretly with an inferiority complex
- Hatred on behalf of people having an independant way of thinking, because the victims will nearly never comply in accepting lies, or be part of a group they don't feel to belong to.
- Last but not least: stupidity, lack of intelligence. Example: the short sighted principle of a winner-looser mentality, life being far more subtle than that.

This topic is very complex and deserves to be examined with full attention by authorities, parents and educators. There is probably a hereditary factor to be taken into account, but education should help reducing harmfull natural tendencies.

In any case, bullying people should be taught hard lessons. There must come an end at putting the guilt on the victims !

Dissatisfaction. Why do mass shooters kill many people? It doesn't have to make sense to us. Because in somebody's twisted mind it does. They think I'm unhappy and others are going to pay for it. Maybe they don't understand the value of life because nobody loved them enough to teach them it, or maybe they just don't care. Bullies justify thier actions in thier twisted minds.

I just had this discussion with someone! Among MANY reasons, one reason people bully is because something doesn't fit their vision of the way things should be. It or the other person are different or non-conforming. So they bully as a reaction to what they don't understand.

This is a case by case basis. Why one person is a bully might be different from another.


Some do it because they hate themselves and want to take their pain and misery out on others. Some might feel powerful. Others just enjoy hurting others. The list goes on and on

People learn behavior early in life, my parents put me in kindergarten at 4 and a half. I was smaller than many, got picked on. I joined the USAF and put on 55 pounds and learned karate at 17, people left me alone from then on. Bullies I knew went to jail because they liked getting away with stuff.

Bullying is a way to feel superior because somewhere in their life they feel inferior in some kind of way whether it be insecurity , traumas etc.

Deep down inside because they are pusssies so bullying someone that is weak gives them a sense of strength.

A bully won't dare to bully someone they know is willing to fight back.
