Doesn't Libiya or Morocco have similar safety standards that Western countries like The US, Canada, Europe, Japan, or Australia do?

Because Libya and Morocco have been hit by natural disasters with death tolls in the thousands. Whereas in more developed countries it seems like it would be less if the same happened. Not meaning to be insensitive just curious.

Not likely. Brown countries do not tend to value human life very much. In a Brown country people tend to be out for themselves. It's why it's so hard to help Brown countries. They never seem to want to get thier act together.

And this isn't a post against Brown people. My heart goes out to them. But most of these countries are backwaters with leaders that do not give a s*** about anything but retaining power. And the people are just trying to survive by any means necessary. So naturally crime is typically rampant. So it's just a self replicating system of self destructive behaviour.

I've read large sections of the building code in the U. S. I have not read any of the building code in Iraq, Morocco, Afghanistan, and a couple other countries I've been to. I CAN, however, say that enforcement of whatever their codes say is far more lenient and pencil whipped than it is in the states, so even if the codes are the same, doesn't matter if they aren't followed.

I also seriously doubt they are the same.

This kind of natural disaster is really unavoidable. Now I just pray that more people are safe.

The "standards" are probably employed but they're not necessarily enforced.

Ow god no. They have historical districts that is older then the words of "safety standards and code following standards"

The very reason notre dame cathedral fire happen. A small disaster destroys a historic building or district.

I doubt very seriously that including the older historical structures the building codes are as strict as in the USA

Apparently they do not. There are a lot of very old (actually ancient ) buildings in Morocco.
