Why do people commit suicide?

Question

Why do people do this? They have don much left going for them, they have a life, why waste it. Anything is conquerable and u don’t need to give up.

One of my friends took their life this morning, and it’s been a struggle, but I’m doing fine. I’m praying for their family and parents and other friends of hers.

suicide should not be as prevalent as it is now, but it is. It’s real and it’s terrifying. Death shouldn’t be an escape. It should be natural. It’s also taken very lightly too.

Why does society support these actions, and why should people think of this in the first place?

Im not meaning to insult anyone by this I’m just asking to see other people’s opinions on this matter.

Sometimes it feels like the only option. You said “they have a life, why waste it”. Well, some people feel that their life is so miserable, that there is nothing to waste. When you’re in so much pain, and you feel alone and helpless, suicide can seem like a good escape. Most people who commit suicide don’t do it because they necessarily want to die, they just want the pain to stop. And when you’ve exhausted all of your other options such as therapy, medications, etc, and yet you still feel the same, then suicide can seem like the next option. I know that it’s hard to understand, especially with how young you are, and if you don’t truly struggle with mental health problems. I’ve had well over 20 attempts in my past, and though these days I’m thankful that I wasn’t successful, I do remember how I felt back then. The black hole that I was stuck in. The mental pain that I felt, and the helplessness. It’s truly not something that you can fully understand until you’ve experienced it for yourself.

People commit suicide because they feel as if that is the only way out of their problems. But suicide does not fix the problem, it just ends everything permanently. These individuals may not have a good support system or are just too depressed and too far gone to want to fix their life. When you have a mental illness, your mind plays tricks on you telling you things will never get better, you’re worthless, end it all. Some people just can’t work through that and realize that these thoughts aren’t true.

I wish I had the answer to your question , if I did I'd dedicate the rest of my life to it , sadly this is life , its never easy at any age , I'm actually 62 years of age , 63 years in January 2024 , over my life , friends and acquaintances , I've lost 7 to suicide , I've seen the devastation it causes , depression is a circumstance where the people involved just can't see a way out.

One of my friends , a very good friend for a time , and a very good golfer , made the club championship final one year ( Open - A Grade ) , always had problems , he jumped off a major road overpass into oncoming traffic , I still always say a prayer when I walk over these things , I'm not religious. Why do they do it? Well you just can't answer it logically. But , I agree with you , it must never be accepted and we really need to assist people far more , and understand depression , and its causes.

suicide comes from people wanting to be needed and being seen as their life having some worth something of importance to someone and is meaningful

they have trouble processing and accepting the fact society sees them as worthless so they end their own life. sometimes they do it because they get pressured into doing so

a lot of hypocrites don't care about these things until it hits them in the face because people who speak out about this are often dismissed as whiny crybabies/losers thus they choose to remain silent even more

I think people end their lives because somebody told them the lie that life is supposed to be easy, so when it’s not, they believe they are existing and not living and they self destruct. I was raised by atheists and my parents never told me life is meant to be easy, they told me every good and bad thing you get is purely accidentally and you can’t kill yourself because you have infinite value and a mission to fulfill.

Various reasons. No will to live, life is treating them like shit, they lost a shit load of money and are now broke, in some cases, it's accidental (drug OD), maybe they were in an accident and told they were gonna be paralyzed the rest of their life and just didn't want to live that way, maybe a loved one broke up with them, etc..

For me, it expedites my journey to my goddess.

But for practical reasons, it's to end pain. I've been in pain every day for a decade due to nerve damage. That can't be fixed without surgery, which I can't afford, and it's not even a guarantee. I rarely sleep and when I do it's just for a few hours, and that's slowly killing me. Coupled with emotional damage, it's a lot to deal with. So suicide is often a mighty tempting choice

Many people have given up hope. I read the obituaries every day. If I see a young person die it is almost always a drug OD. Sometimes they say they succumbed to their addiction. If it is a middle aged white guy it is usualy a suicide. It sometimes says he succumbed to depression.
