What people don't realize is that the rounded term of "government" is a business. A division of that, is immigration for example. Immigration is a business. We have it in place so that people can get into our countries to work and pay taxes and contribute tot he pot. Lawmakers are another form. We elect people so that they can be paid to decide what's best for people. They are in the business to make those decisions.

Some of the stupidest people out there, are those who are decidedly left wing or right wing. They hate the government for some of the specified time, and love it for the other specified time, depending on who's in control, all the while still managing the same affairs of the people in much of the same way.

The reason I find these people so stupid is because their linear thinking does not allow them to know that liberal people are capable of being conservative, and conservative people are capable of being liberal. They don't even realize that centrists can change their views if they so choose depending on where they are in life, or if life throws them a curveball. For example, a young couple with no children will have different needs from their government for a time based on their life as working individuals, but then demand it change once they have children and require family/child benefits.

Those put in power are in a system (or should I say "running a business") that only the stupid people are so staunch at keeping in place -- they just only want it to be their way for as long as it suits them. Very few people are willing to step outside their identity politics to get a grip and realize that their country is being controlled by people who have elected themselves to run the business, even if we know we know deep down we shouldn't really agree with them.

So no, for the most part I do not trust many countries' governments. However, without it, what actual choice do we have other than to have a an autocracy or monarchy in place expecting us to worship one person?

I think until we can be smart about how we approach politics, the better off we all will be.

If you don't trust the government, you don't trust yourself.

Only way after all for any politician to get into power in western / democratic society is to be voted into power by the people. It's not their fault that the majority voters aren't any better - if not worse - than the politician.

Take Canada for example

Justin Trudeau only got into power because he legalized weed. And because criminals remembered that during his reign Pierre made some changes into imprisonment / criminal code meant that they were released earlier.

He doesn't care for the tax payer, the worker, etc. & by extension for bettering the country because they didn't vote him in. Bettering the country didn't get him in.

His majority voters were predominantly on support, welfare, etc. who care about themselves and don't care if the country falls to ruin.

Take Ontario in Canada for example

Doug Ford comes from a trashy family. It's not secret that he & his brother were drug dealers in school. It's no secret that his sister is a low class tramp. He got into power because he brought back "buck a beer" wherein you can buy beer (usually cheap) for $1
