Is passive resistance the best way to win an argument?

Depends on the kind of argument. Some rando yelling at me because he's drunk and thinks whatever drunk people think when they're trying to pick a fight, "passive resistance" isn't really appropriate.

If we're arguing over whether the movie we saw was any good and you just sit there silent, that's a little weird. That's also not resisting anything.

If you're protesting at the end of my driveway and I can't get out of my house, you can passive resistance all you want, but you're still getting moved, so what did you accomplish?

You mean not saying anything? If you do that, you’re leaving the narrative open to interpretation. Communication breaks down. But, if the communication doesn’t look productive, it may be wise to walk away rather than sit there and be quiet. Best to be sure you have positive proof you are right if you employ that tactic.

Unless you are on a debate team, your goal should be to reach a mutually agreeable resolution, not to win. Passive resistance will drive away emotionally mature people.
