Is Halloween in America getting cancelled this year?

That meme is soooo funny!
I know that certain far-right Christians think that Halloween is about devil worship
blob:null/b06f79f1-1a56-46a1-a87c-66e62d2e2c0f
and witchcraft

But I hadn't thought about the new "woke" culture that is offended by everything.
I'm a personal fan of the young women who celebrate their newly acquired female empowerment

“I know that certain far-right Christians think that Halloween is about devil worship”
“But I hadn't thought about the new "woke" culture that is offended by everything.”
This is interesting, given that in many ways wokeism is a heretical and degenerate form of Calvinism without God.
@RealMarek. Interesting. I think you're right. Political correctness is very Puritanical. No fun at all.
True, and it is no accident that wokeness is puritanical. Progressive idealism got its start with Puritanism, and through a chain of mentorship of New England elites (and after the Civil War, American elites generally) it inhabited various schools of thought: Universalism, transcendentalism, liberal protestantism, secular humanism, and now the intersectionality (wokery) that we see today. So in a way, it comes by its moralizing and its concept of America’s “original sin” honestly.
"I'm a personal fan of the young women who celebrate their newly acquired female empowerment" I bet you are, you and every other straight guy lol.
As for the woke PC stuff I don't think feminists can decide if these costumes are offensive because they sexualise women & encourage men to objectify or if they empower women who are taking control of their bodies and sexuality.
@Irishgirl02. Totally!
What inspired me to write that comment was, as it gets later in the evening, the teens start showing up at the door. And the outfits some of the girls wear is... provocative. LOL It's an opportunity to go out in the safety of the friends and rebel against social constraints. Their young bodies are blossoming and they want to play at being sexy and grown up like the adult characters in films. They don't even know the power of their bodies yet.
So when I wrote that about "newly acquired female empowerment" there was a hint of sarcastic humor. But I almost went the other direction with objectification.
Empowerment or objectification? I made a choice. Hahahaha
Mamma MIA! 😛
No Halloween is NOT getting cancelled this year.
Now over the last 40 years the christian church has tried to steer children away from the holiday because it is considered a Pagan religion. Mainly because of how “scary” costumes promote the devil. But the whole idea of dressing in scary costumes is to ward off evil spirits to begin with.
They prefer to have a “Fall Festival”.
Now some christians still allow their children the fun of dressing up in non scary costumes and trick or treating only in areas advertised as a “safe” place to collect candy that won’t be tainted by those handing it out.
Double negative is a positive.
This is just the same BS they post every Halloween, I'm willing to bet that image you posted is like 15 years old. It's the same as the fears of drugs and razor blades getting mixed in with the Halloween candy, despite there being basically zero child overdoses from fentanyl on Halloween over the years.
I was thinking of reviving my Pharaoh costume from several years back.

I don't see any Pharaoh costume among the costumes enumerated above.
What would I or my costume be interpreted as?
Cultural appropriation.
Living in de Nile.
Glorification of an oppressive caste system.
@zeitgeist057
In those cases, I WILL revive my Pharaoh costume then.

nope
i mean if people wanna be insane about it-
as an observing eye of other costumes people forgot to whine about, bestiality

my thoughts-- insane hypocrites and the pot stirring, making up controversy, driven media need to keep their agendas out of it, let kids or people be whoever they wanna be for one day of the year.
All US traditions and cultural holidays are under attack. Obviously Christmas has to be banned as well. Just wait for the war on Christmas
@drewtate yeah Christmas is evil.
Santa is to thick, rudolf is drunk ( that is why the red nose ) and all santa helpers is an insult for little people.
@Constatine exactly lol
@davado88 perhaps you need to dust down your dictionary and look up what the word attack actually means instead of "attacking" my opinion.
attack:
1. take aggressive military action against (a place or enemy forces) with weapons or armed force.
"in February the Germans attacked Verdun"
2. criticize or oppose fiercely and publicly.
"he attacked the government's defence policy"
firstly i have an excellent vocabulary and am aware of the meaning or every word i use.
Please don't deign to instruct me again you FILTHY FN PEASANT.
and you didn't answer my question. Noone is attacking Christmas. Its invulnerable even if they somehow did. That could possibly be the stupidest notion I've heard all week.
Please proceed to the moron corner and don your dunce cap
All the traditional holidays seem to be under attack. Columbus Day, Veterans Day, St. Patrick's Day, Thanksgiving and even Christmas are being pushed aside for Juneteenth and Cinco DeMaio. If I was a kid I would go out as an illegal alien or a member of BLM.

Seems to be getting that way
Wokesterism should be cancelled for Halloween.

I think you're taking Facebook to seriously, lol.
I love how the Tron costume is promoting Ultimate Frisbee and the clown is promoting terrorism. 🤣
No but kids are banned from dressing as their birth gender.
I doubt it.
I don't understand most of those! What does Batman have to do with poor shaming?
2 hints: the character wayne is rich, so not allowed to make poor feel bad noticed. also the expensive costume makes cheep costume look ashamed
Batman is a white privileged oligarch billionaire who uses his wealth to dress up in advanced expensive bat shaped military body armor, gadgets and vehicles to spend his weekends beating the crap out of impoverished minorities on the breadline then uses the police force of the city he basically owns to jail them. Then there's the grooming of young underage kids to do the same while dressing them in kinky outfits. Picture Jeff Bezos doing the same thing.
@strateguy632 I'm sure most people wouldn't make either association.
@Drewtate Nothing like taking these WAAAAYYY over the deep end!
If the Joker, Riddler and all the others are on the breadline, how is it THEY can afford to wear their bizarre costumes (you don't just FIND green tights and a leotard with huge question marks all over them in the dumpster! You have to PAY someone a lot of money to make those!), decorate their abodes in outlandish gear, buy fiendish gadgets to kill people or pay off their henchmen?
I don't know. I go to the movies on Halloween and see a double feature so I don't have to deal with it. Call me Scrooge.
yes im afraid it is. so youd better all find your babytalking reasons elsewhere
googoo gaagaa.
Did you know we have a name for people in my country that hand free lollies (candy) to random children?
paedeophiles.
and most importantly note that there's an a before the first e. Its called English. If you're too fn stupid to spell properly, steal a dictionary before you revolt, Peasants
oh em gee im so embarrassed. i made a big deal of peasant spelling in america.
and accidentally mispelt the very word i accused you peasants of mispelling
i hope not. I'm planning to go as a drag queen doing a story hour for kids. i've got a big set of fake dangly balls to stick under my dress so I can be as authentic as possible. Of course, unlike the actual leftist-supported pedo-drag queens, I won't be showing that to children. 🤣
You mean that October 30th will be followed by November 1st this year?
Or do you mean that locations are telling children not to do trick-or-treat?
it better not be! it's my favorite holiday. i'm not dressing up so what will i be? (i'll be in normal clothes)? white supremacist/pedophile/anti-semite?
Bruh... what da faq loooool... i'll be damned if I'm in this neighborhood and there's not one kid trick or treating.
Nah, I will be dress up as a cop and been watching Halloween specials recently
Going to a Halloween party
Don't know but just happy that I got to experience so many great Halloweens as a kid. It's just not the same these days and that is sad.
Maybe this Halloween I'll dress up as a Klansman, and carry a rope with a noose tied on one end. Would that be politically incorrect? :)
If Halloween is getting canceled this year that only means one thing.
MORE CANDY FOR ME!
Yeah why not.
Like said before... all cultural traditions go to hell... 😂🤣 sad but true... 🥺Not only in america
No. This is dumb. I've heard of more pushback from religious nuts about Halloween than political correctness nuts.
I Posted a Question on Trick and Treat. Half and Half of Kids still Doing. xxoo
I doubt that it is, but i do wish it would get cancelled here in the UK
Why? Kids barely even trick or treat here? lol
Back in the day in Canada I used to trick or treat for hours we would be out until 12am just collecting LOL Now I think they ruled the cut off time at 8pm :/
@Anemone978 Oh yes they do, i has out and about last Halloween, it is ridiculous how many people think it is ok to celebrate a event that is not their own. It is also a pointless made up event and stupid how people go mad for it. it is becoming like a second Christmas with lights, trees and decorations. The British people should be investing in our own events like Bonfire Night, and before you start the millennial/zoomer racism nonsense, it is not racist to say this.
You own your own country your existence and everything and it is an act of betrayal to not prioritize your own culture.
I'm not big on guy fawkes night myself lol
@DarkLegacy yes it's another Americanism I could do without. WTF happened to good bonfire and mischief night not to mention penny for the guy
Why would I say it is racist? LOL It is just a pagan ritual turned into a money grab thing like every other holiday.. I celebrate it in the house with the kids, buy them lots of chocolates and snacks and watch scary movies.. I just didn't think it was that popular here because I never see anything besides shops selling stuff but maybe because I live in a Muslim area hehe
Anyways we usually celebrate bonfire night too but it would be cool with less fireworks.. it should be more focused on actual bonfires lol but they do sell stuff for that too. Just people don't celebrate it as much, not sure why..
@CubaPirate It is a disgrace that this has been allowed to happen, it is the same with everything British, the younger generations including my own turning their backs on it. It is the media of course trying to create a single state world called America. Their media take control everything, newspapers, tv, films the fact that all the biggest internet companies are Yank makes it worse, especially social media.
But having said that the people should not be influenced by it. But it is just the silly younger generations
Im surprised at the Tories, im not a fan of them but they were at least patriotic, but they have been in government since 2010 and this Americanism has happened on their watch, and they should taken measures against it.
@irishgirl02 don't know why we need the lol, but you are not British, i don't think they even have it in Ireland
@Anemone978 I explained the reasons why in my answer, it also does not help that just like everything else the media and some people are jumping on the fashion statement woke bandwagon like with everything else British. In this particular case about it being cruel to animals, along with elf and safety
I'm technically British. My country is still under British occupation and i lived in England for a time. Some celebrate guy fawkes there but to a lesser extent, any chance to celebrate the death of a Catholic rebel you know. I did always enjoy 5th of November fireworks, growing up we used to have both the Halloween fireworks put on by the town then the 5th of November put on by the British army in their garrison. Bongire night is largely on the 11th of July and Halloween we stopped lighting massive bonfires and have massive parades because it's easier on the environment, health and the clean up.

Halloween has been celebrated in Ireland and Scotland for something like 1500 years and was taken to the America's by immigrants. I think Hispanics, spainish and Italians celebrate the day of the dead which happens around the 3 days Allowtide. Think the English used to celebrate Halloween up until maybe the reformation and there's a reformation day on the 31st.

@irishgirl02 i don't see how you can say under British occupation. And when it comes to upholding our culture, environment or nothing else matters. And how is it bad for your health
occupation:
the action, state, or period of occupying or being occupied by military force.
"the Roman occupation of Britain"
Ireland is not under British occupation
What the heck is this picture? The ones who use it have a bad life, always try to find something to complain about and to be victims. Luckily, they are minority and thus Halloween won't be cancelled.
Not to my knowledge. Haven't heard anything.
They'll be fine as long as they go as clowns...🤡... Pennywise scares the hell out of me.
The kid should NOT skip trick-or-treating; the kid should NOT promote such atrocities. How are those promoting terrorism or xenophobia?
So they r against costumes that Promotes obesity and fat shaming?
No that’a not true, it’s just celebrated differently and carefully
The costume police shall not win.
One guy I knew went as a tampon.
Banned from trick or treating in fancy dress
I celebrate every USA, American holiday! screw everyone else. :)
Why would this is being a topic of conversation? Of course not
Not that I know of and that is the stupidest picture I’ve ever seen.
Ultimate Frisbee... haha the horror.
No its a great holiday
Not were I'm from
Why can't these leftists just let kids be kids?
Nah..
Have no idea. Am in Canada
I don't think so. Not that I know of
Lol, no.
I don’t care…Halloween is evil
Better not because we are going out as hookees
Nope wiukdnt happen
"Ultimate Frisbee" 😂
Yeah, no.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Eating disorders!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Eating disorders are very real, but as someone who has one, this doesn't offend me 😂
You may have an eating disorder, and for that I am sorry, but you score big points by understanding the difference between victimization and humor. We could use a lot more of that in society today.
Thanks and you also
Hmm I don't know
Uh no
no way
