Why do far-left people in New York and California love Palestine so much?

I don’t know much about what’s happening in the world but I know they love Palestine. Why is this?

Love? It's more "sympathize," i think. You see, Israel is new. After WWII the western powers simply took over that section of Palestine and gave it to the Jewish. It was a straight up invasion, from the perspective of the Palestinians who had nothing to do with WWII, justified because the Jewish people had just been through one of the worst situations imaginable. Their holy book promised they would get Israel back anyway, so the west just pushed and plundered their way through Palestine and then gave Israel hundreds of countries worth of arsenals to defend itself.

That kind of violence provokes retaliation. So, the left "understands" why Palestinians would be angry. That is not to suggest the left is supportive of Hamas, which is not Palestine but a fringe group, like the US's Proud Boys or QAnon.

That's the essence of it, but there is also conspiracies. A fair number of people on both the left and right believe the only reason the US supports Israel at all is so we can justify dumping our tax money into the bank accounts of weapons manufacturers that we then donate to Israel. And if weapons manufacturers are truly behind such things then it obviously benefits them when Israel gets attacked, because the we gotta send a bunch more weapons, so of course it is assumed that Israel might be instructed by those weapons manufacturers to provoke attacks like this on purpose, by carrying out horrific violence on Palestinian civilians.

There's always a story about things like that happening, too, but it's impossible to know what to believe anymore..

Liberals tend to connect with anybody who claims their oppressed. Claiming to be disenfranchised, lacking agency, a victim of oppression, subject to the patriarchy, or seeking equity and/or social Justice is an absolute dog whistle to them. Without any further discussion they will seek out subjective data to support whatever opinion they wish to defend. Anybody else tries to discuss it, then scream or beat them into silence. It’s the “progressives” modus operadi the world over.

It is super easy to morally justify supporting Palestine. Its basically children level logic where Palestine is being oppressed by Israel and originally Great Britain. Note however that supporting Palestine does not automatically mean that you support Hamas.

Conservatives are thinkers, and liberals just turn to MSNBC to learn what to think. There is no excuse for killing babies, unless you're a liberal.
