Why does it seem that so many Americans are pro-Palestine?

I’m in the US and despite the US being allies with Israel, most of what I’ve seen online implies that the majority are pro-Palestine. They cite the mistreatment Israel has done to Palestine in their historic problems. On the other hand, it seems like a lot of republicans are supportive of Israel.
I don’t feel able to “pick a side” because it’s just a terrible situation. But why are so many people against Israel when technically they were the ones to be attacked first?

Socialists by doctrine are anti-God, thus against the Jews and Christians... All you have to do is go read "On The Jewish Question" by Karl Marx to understand that... @Lliam Butchery is diplomacy in the middle east just as it is in Africa. The only country that has ever made a lasting peace with Israel (in the region) is Egypt. Israel does have a huge arrogance that doesn't help their cause and I still remember the USS Liberty and the Israel attack and murder of U. S. sailers (covered up by Pres Johnson). Having said that, Hamas and other terror organizations have repeatedly attacked the Israelis. So what's the answer? Diplomatically there really isn't one IMHO. A blood letting occasionally reduces the pressure for a couple of decades, until the next blood letting. Is this a shitty opinion, maybe, but this dynamic has existed since the birth of Israel.

The Israelis have a firm grasp on U. S. politicians and that won't change soon. Cash flows from the U. S. to Israel and a small person comes back in washed campaign contributions.
