It doesn't matter who with a (D) gets elected; the party has absolute control and pursues the exact same agenda, with the exact same unelected appointees behind the scenes to call the shots.

If someone with an (R) gets elected, there's enough crossover RINOs to effectively prevent the administration from passing anything meaningful, let alone beneficial beyond marginal tax cuts. It's cynical but accurate to say you're voting for a 4-year delay on whatever the power hungry lunatics want to do, and shouldn't expect much else.

So at the end of the day, it barely even matters anyway when the same people keep getting reelected in the house and Senate, and the majority of voters don't even pay attention to state and local elections where your life gets much more directly affected.

But to answer your question more directly, this is why:

Biden is the incumbent, which gives him an inherent advantage most of the time. If he weren't such an overly braindead retard, he could get away with such an abysmal administration pretty easily. The party has no interest whatsoever in becoming "more moderate" or even tapping the brakes, and so every other name that they've attempted to test the waters with (Clinton, Buttigieg, Harris, Warren, Abrams, and Newsome) are even more overtly radical than Joe while still all polling lower, and they will never let a rogue party member like Bernie or RFK even be the nominee let alone president.

The Republicans have had every opportunity to capitalize on the Democrats' failures, but they seem to be just as terrified of candidates who they don't own and pay for taking the stage. This is painfully obvious with how the party's talking heads treat Trump and Ramaswamy compared to DeSantis, Haley, and Pence with little to no attention paid to what their actual policy claims are, and at least this time around, party officials' support is almost inverse to what the voters are saying. This means that for the majority of conservative and independent voters, that the Republican party is effectively useless and unreliable, and a vote for Trump is just as much giving them the finger as it is the Democrats, which is further exacerbated by multiple absurd indictments against Trump, and no other candidates able to distinguish themselves as notably better in now two pretty pathetic debate performances and half a year of campaigning.

The name recognition factor is huge. It's a major reason why incumbents usually win in the house and Senate despite the fact both often have approval ratings in the teens. In fact, it's very rare that a Senate seat flips without the previous occupant retiring or dying in office.

I just think it's weird that the "liberal media" has successfully bamboozled people into bothsidesing this issue. People are genuinely acting like they've never heard of an incumbent president running for reelection before. It has never happened! Biden is the first ever! And therefore just as weird as Trump!
