Should it be illegal to impersonate someone of another country on the internet?

Some anonymous troll from God knows where impersonates someone from say Poland, Germany, France, Australia, Canada, and even Netherlands and makes those countries look bad. Forums and chat rooms are commonplace for this crap.

It needs to stop.

by the way, when you travel to those countries in real life and interact with a tourist/immigrant from there, the observation is different.

No. Just as it isn't illegal to impersonate your account to make you look bad. Though that person would not need to try too hard in your case anyway.

Sure they cannot be libellous and cannot violate privacy laws. But freedom of speech means you can be as bad as the law allows. Impersonation isn't illegal, film actors do it all the time, even badly. But it's about intent.
