I'm not sure why this matters. I mean having a party over gender is kinda stupid. But is it really sexist? I had to look up what word sexist even meant. I mean I thought I knew what it meant. Maybe did and maybe I didn't.

    Source:

    https://www.vocabulary.com/dictionary/sexist#:~:text=A%20sexist%20is%20someone%20who,and%20laws%20discriminate%20against%20women.

A sexist is someone who discriminates on the basis of gender. Sexist people and laws are unfair. A sexist is someone who discriminates on the basis of gender. Sexist people and laws are unfair.
Like racist and homophobic, this word refers to a type of hatred or discrimination: in this case, on the basis of gender. Usually, sexist people and laws discriminate against women. Back when women couldn't vote, wear pants, or own property, you could say that the world was pretty sexist. Likewise, before all-women Vassar College began admitting men, it was accused of having sexist policies. Treating a man or woman differently just because they're male or female is sexist.

I guess it's sexist if you think that the party fits with the definition for it. The little baby isn't going to care or even remember it. And I don't know how you treat a female baby any different then a boy baby. Like when a baby is delivered. Parents are like, "yay it's a boy!" or "yay it's a girl!" Normally they are happy with whoever comes out.

My wife and I refused to do one. My brother's now ex-wife was very insistent that we have one, and we ruined her plan by publicly sharing it as soon as we knew. We're not ones to stick to gender rolls and the typical pink/blue split or doll/truck toy split anyways.

Lmao the whole thing is sexist and they are demanding Thier baby be a gender when it won't know for like 19 years!

Maybe the baby will be w new gender!

Kinda the point parents want to show off and have a party let them! Be social most don't get to be social again for ages so busy with the baby

@crmoore it's sarcasm 🤣 as kids are saying there are like 200 genders now.

yeah, and pointless. sometimes i feel like they don't care if it's a healthy baby, as long as the mom or dad gets the gender that they want so they can play dress up or treat it as their toy or live vicariously through their child... just seems awful and dark.

    What? 😅

Maybe it's due to being caught off guard, but I cannot think of how it could be? People celebrate the outcome no matter which gender it ends up being.

In these woke times it's more like, "What gender we decided to make our kid" parties.

I haven't seen an example of one being sexist yet. I'm sure it's possible but I don't think gender reveal parties are inherently sexist if that's what you mean. I'd imagine that if there are some, they're exceptionally rare.
