Are shorts sexist?

Let's compare the typical length of men's shorts and women's shorts.

Here is a typical pair of men's shorts...

Now, for comparison, here is a typical pair of women's shorts...

Notice that the hemline on men's shorts is just above the knee, while on women's shorts the hemline is much higher.

Lest you think this is a typical, below are pictures of three men and three women wearing shorts...

Is it sexist that women's shorts show much more bare leg than men's shorts? Or maybe there's another reason for the obvious differences?

In the 70's and 80's guys shorts were short. Pretty short too.

The problem with guys have short shorts is that they can get a big hard on when they least expect it.
What used to happen to the guys that wore short shorts is their penis would show when it was hard.

Then they had a problem on their hands. Trying to cover their hard on that everyone could see growing down his leg.

So, the shorts guys wear now don't have that problem.

Maybe that's the reason they are longer now.

Not so much for adults since they come in multiple sizes and styles. If you wanted shorter or longer shorts it's possible to find them.

But for babies/toddlers I've heard soo many girl moms complain about the girls shorts being too short and they have to shop in the boy section for appropriate sized shorts

Women can always buy longer shorts. They sell shorts that are nearly identical to men's shorts for women. Women don't buy them. Same with skirts. Women have access to ankle length skirts and short skirts. Most pick the short skirts. Long dresses vs short dresses. Again most women pick the short dress. They have access to options that allow them to be more modest THEY choose not to use them. In near all situations regarding choices for modesty or revealing most women pick the revealing option.

Nah. The market is self adjusting, especially since the advent of the internet. If people DON’T buy something, companies WON’T continue to sell the thing. Once was a time you had to buy what the store was selling if you couldn’t produce the item in question yourself. Now, you can just go online and either find exactly what you want or learn how to make it yourself.
There IS a sexist factor just around the corner though. If a woman buys and wears men’s shorts because she likes the fit and/or fashion better, little to nothing is thought of it. If a man buys and wears women’s clothes, however, fantastically controversial; especially right now.

Men these days are scared shitless to show leg. They're afraid it'll turn them gay! Girls love to show their legs. I wear short shorts because I don't wanna wear baggy shit that covers my knees when it's hot. I've never worn shorts like that! The ones I'm wearing now only cover the top half of my thighs! The pair I had on yesterday were even shorter than that! Shorts are SUPPOSED to keep you cool in hot weather!! And younger guys don't wear knee socks while wearing shorts!! Girls do that! Girls, fags, nerds and sissies! Up until the late `80's, all guys wore short shorts!! Then rap came along and turned them all into a big bunch of pussies!!

Two reasons come to mind.

First, women generally have better legs than men - aesthetically speaking

Second, most men can't wear shorts the length of women's shorts without being arrested. Except during "pride" month, when they're compulsory.

the length isn't sexist because the production is based on "demand" supplying the stuff that was purchased so whatever the customer preferred is what they produce more.

if too short insulted her she would not buy, maye buy men shorts, then company would stop wasting to produce what she won't buy! but produce proved not sexist because she does buy.

Most of my shorts are mountain biking type shorts, or just tailored shorts. You can have them too short or your knob hangs out or you have everything squashed up which is not comfortable.
