There are universal basic needs like shelter, food, safety etc. but I said for a first world country. Basic needs can include things that you think you need. Whether if it’s for your mental or whatever.

Decent, stable food, clothes, shelter. I say decent and stable because I don't mean a tent in a homeless encampment, a car, or living in a shelter.

You need a cell phone, and ideally, home internet. You need electricity, and gas, or oil to heat your home or apartment If you live in an area that gets extremely hot in summer, you need air conditioning.

According to where you live, you might need a car to get to and from work, school or both. You also need basic auto insurance and, of course, gasoline.

If you have more money, you might want a hybrid car. Electric cars, since the infrastructure is not yet there to keep them charged while you are at work or school, and their mileage is limited, are not yet practical.

If you are a student, you need a computer to do your work and in many cases, you need a computer for jobs. This would be a plus to have a laptop, or tablet, at least.

You said BASIC. I'm just talking about survival. You did not say "creature comforts." Then you might want a TV and a streaming service or two or cable. Go see a show once a month: I mean a concert and or a movie. But I don't consider those basics. You're talking about racking up some dollars now.

Oh, and a really good BED!!! A serious creature comfort. You don't need a stick of furniture in that apartment except that wonderful bed. Sofa and chairs you can find on the street and recover them to your liking. BED!!! Read consumer reports reviews. I live by them.
