BREAKING: The Colorado Supreme Court has removed Trump from the 2024 state ballot, citing the 14th amendment.

I suspect the US Supreme Court will overturn this... but they might not!

Anyway, Trump will be on the primary ballot because the Colorado Supreme Court stayed its own order pending appeal until 04 JAN 2024. The Colorado Secretary of State says they must have the primary ballots printed by 05 JAN 2024 to satisfy the state law that the ballots be out 60 days before the primary which is in March 2024.

So, Trump will likely be on the GOP primary ballot, but, if the Colorado Supreme Court isn't overruled before the general election in November, then Trump would be off that general election ballot.

This would be the ideal situation for Democrats because, if Trump were to win the Colorado GOP primary and then subsequently be blocked in the general election, this would be a problem for the GOP. I am not sure what, if anything, they could do. I guess, in principle, they could hold a second primary at their expense, but, otherwise, there'd be no GOP candidate officially on the general election ballot then and Trump would have to be a write-in, but votes for him would still be wasted because Colorado could not submit Electoral College electors for Trump.

I think the timing is interesting. They could have done this a year ago. It makes me wonder what will happen come election time. Whether while the courts battle it out whether he'll still get his name on the ballot. Or whether they timed it to prevent him getting his name on the ballot. Like maybe they know it'll be overturned but after the election is over. Which might be all they want. It's sad state of out democracy but you have to question thier motives.
