Trending & News A couple of days ago, in a disagreement about another topic, one woman on this site claimed that fatherless children are prone to fail with no success in life. Do you agree with this statement about those without fathers? Explain why or why not.

As someone who actually studied child development in college and worked with hundreds of children, the answer is no.
Fathers teach children behavioral inhibition. They also provide more resources and extra policing of children and their behaviors. Those things do give children in two parent households a boost.
That being said, while being raised in a single parent household increases the odds of committing a crime by 17%, it does not guarantee it. Just increases the risk.
I know a number of men who grew up fatherless. Most of their actual issues tend to relate to being fathers themselves and husbands/partners. They didn't have a great example in some cases and have to figure it out alone. If they can find good role models, then the learning process is easier.
As for money, the ones I know do very well. One owns a trucking company and makes a quarter of a million a year. The other is working on saving for his own business and makes about $85,000 yr. Both are doting fathers to their children. They spoil them if anything. Neither went to college, but they make great money without it.
The other lady also did not define what fatherless means. A single parent household does not mean the other parent is completely absent. Single mother loosely means the mother is the primary caregiver and not in a relationship with the father. He could be around and a bad influence. He could be in and out. He could be a great influence and just not around often. He could be at their house visiting every day and be a great dad. By her definition, did the father leave? Did he die? At what age did this have to happen for the failure to occur? If the parents divorce when the kid is 16, is the kid a guaranteed failure by her illogical thinking? Does a family friend, other relative, step father, or loving boyfriend of the mother offset the risks? Of course. So, at what point is the child fatherless? Her uneducated stance lacks any real substance and has far too many variables...
Yes exactly. Our upbringing doesn't determine our future and possibly. Someone may grow up in a poor single parent home, not getting all the necessities or things they want, but grow up to be very successful. On the other hand, there have been those who grew up in a middle class 2 parent home, where they were neglected or abused and/or spoiled and turned out to be killers!
That person has been trolling my last post as well. But I soon will expose her if she continues on. I got the recipts saved up! She's just cynical, bitter, boring and insecure is all!
No they're not. They can succeed at anything they want, if they put their mind to it! Despite what others think, they have a chance in this world, just as much as anyone else. There are celebrities/public figures that grew up without a father and became very successful, despite what the statistics and stereotypes are about them! Since when has that stopped anyone? If they can make it and be successful, so can those without an earthly father present.
And don't worry about the trolls. I am one more person that is with you and supports you. Don't give in to those sadistic attention seeking bullies. They're only doing this because of what they're going through. Soon, they'll become fertilizer for the earth and food for the bugs. You know what you stand for is right. Don't let 2 puny roaches put you down or keep you from your goals. And if you are a fatherless child, just know that you are loved and are worthy! This is to anyone who is fatherless. You got this!
@LazerBean wow you're just paranoid because someone actually supports the asker and is standing up with them. I'm not gonna give the devil, which is you, the satisfaction you want. I already spoke the truth now you're just lying in it. You have been warned and reported and we're now in the process of making a report about both of you. I'm not saying that I am able to find out both of yours location, but I will.
All I'm gonna say is if you can't finish what you started, well, then we'll end it for you. You're the only failure and this time, there's no way to come back from this. I hope you'll learn your lesson from bullying and harassing others online and irl. Because this ends after I say so. The case is closed. Have a nice life in hell! May the fire slowly but surely burn you and your minions alive. You're now blocked!
Of course the answer to this is not absolutely one way or the other. Children growing up without a father are much more likely to commit crimes, have a poorer education and be in poverty. But that doesn't mean they have no chance of success. It just means that children in fatherless homes have less chance of success than children in homes with a father who is actively involved in their lives. There is no disputing this, it is a fact.
One important element that is often missing in a fatherless home is discipline. This probably accounts for most of the issues. A male in the home is more likely to instill discipline in a child and teach them right from wrong. Without that it is much harder for a child to stay out of trouble and succeed.
And there is a different dynamic for male and female children. Female children's self esteem is often influenced by their fathers and girls who grew up without a father in their lives have a greater chance of having low self esteem... an important impediment to success. Male children take a male figure more seriously when it comes to discipline. So that affects their lives and success.
It isn't society, it is nature. Nature created the family unit as a success mechanism to have a mother, a father and children. They each play an important role in the survival and success of the species.
It's certainly not an inevitability, but it seriously does damage, and is the single biggest predictive factor for future serious criminality in a child; the stats back that up. For the record, it's probably similarly damaging to grow up without a mother, but that's so much rarer that we don't really have numbers for it.
Now, what does this mean for same-sex couples? No one knows; it's still too early to tell. But I will bet you anything that whatever damage it might causes in that area could be mitigated, at least, by a large and strong extended family presence in their lives. Give the kid cousins and aunts and uncles and grandparents, not abstractedly, but as a real thing that they frequently interact with, and they'll the reap the benefits all their lives.
@wolfcat87 It's a higher risk than any other, not only across every human culture and primate species, but even into elephants and, to a lesser degree, crocodiles. But go ahead, insist that YOU know better than decades of research and the evidence of modern prisons.
I'm SURE the world will be fair for you, if only you want it to enough.
Considering I studied Child Development in college and read the research more than the average joe, I know what it says. It does not agree with you. There's only an increase risk of 17% for fatherless children, and it's easily offset with a great family and support system from everyone else. You seriously don't understand child brain development at all, and you have no desire to learn. Abuse causes killers and serious mental illness whether you have a father or not. So, it is indeed a much stronger indicator of whether someone will fail to thrive. If you're still confused, look up how many killers were abused and unable to bond with their parents and families...

Is EVERY fatherless child BOUND to fail? Of course not. . . but they are statiscally more prone to be involved in many of the things in life that most people would classify as failures.
They are prone to fail but not bound to fail. Barak Obama’s father was not in his life much at all. His mother and grandparents raised him and he went on to Harvard and the Presidency. Many successful people come from one parent homes but also many end up in jail or worse. Its a hard job as a single parent but it can produce a successful child. One key to success will be ti have the child in a good school district as even with a giod parent the other school kids can turn them bad.
There are many other factors that come into play for a child without a father or a mother to succeed.
@Billlewis Why is that?
@Billlewis Uh no it didn't. There's no one way to be a successful person. But there is one way to fail and that would be to give up.
@Billlewis Ah, I missed the joke. Yeah his ethics are questionable and I didn’t vote for him but he was successful.
Now I get what he was saying, but since it was pertaining to your comment as a whole, misjudged it.
No they are not bound to fail. But they have it harder than other kids and I would say it´s probably harder for boys since they don´t have a rolemodel in their life. That´s why many kids that come from a single parent household fail.
But at the same time there are kids from a single parent household that are successful.
no, I've seen kids whom had totally screwed up fathers come out very good.
The reason was the rest of the family and the new father figure (step father) came in and brought stability. Just one example.
So there are dynamics... takes a village. If all that fails, the child can succeed in spite of the father. Often times, they may have an instability that leaches into life and causes big problems... take Lance Armstrong as example.
I kind agree that fatherless children are more prone to failure in life. However, it doesn't mean that all fatherless kids are going to be miserable in life. There's a lot of fatherless people who are successful and made it in life but it is a fact that they were prone to fail in life.
So you agree with @LazerBean about how they're failures?
I don't know who that person is or what he/she said. I do agree that they're prone to failure I'm not saying they're failures.
So are you saying that those with 2 parents can't also be prone to failure based off of certain circumstances?
It seems like this person has got their minds wrapped around wanting to see those without a father or parents fail in life, which is sad on her part.
The question is about fatherless children and not about children with two parents.
But it's relevant to the question, nor was the question given a straight answer.
I gave you my answer on the first comment I made. Have a good day.
You not answering says a lot. Thank you!
I'm sorry that you're so sensitive and can't handle people who have differing opinions than you, even though you pretentiously ask questions as if you can. That probably happened because you didn't have a father around enough to teach you how to have thick skin and logic.
Unfortunately for you and your delisions there are literally government websites that track and study the statistically higher failure rates of your kind. Sometimes children who are products of broken homes are able to rise above their unfortunate parents and genetics and do better, but none of y'all completely escape the inevitable damage.
Stay triggered
Worthless piece of ****. I'm in your head, aren't I? Can't get enough of me, can you? Love to bring people down to your level just so that you can feel, "loved"?
And you're wrong either way. Just wait, you'll get what's coming for you.
And actually 54% of people disagree with you. That says a lot.
I think you're the one who's trying to cope with your "expectations". But keep it up. I got the recipts. Took screenshots of your comments. If you keep harassing and trolling, everyone will know of the ignorance you said about fatherless children, which is not accurate for every fatherless child. I mean, you must be the exception to the rule for a turd with 2 parents, right?
I bet only then would you wanna take back what you can't finish!
Which is something you'll exactly be doing not too long for now.
You mean you're crying? Oh, I'm not sorry, you baby. You're only embarrassing yourself, sweetie. I exposed you and I will do it on other communities. Seems like 61% of people already agree with me. It's just you and your troll friends that are taking an L loser 👆🏽
The admins are already looking at what caused this whole commotion, you, and that statement you made. Oops, no take backs! Told you I got the receipts lol
"Your kind?" You sound like the triggered one coming all the way here to stalk, harass, and attempt to insult her and an entire demographic of humans based on such a dumb claim.
As someone who actually studied child development in college and worked with hundreds of children, you clearly do not understand the information you're attempting to use to discriminate or judge.
Fathers teach children behavioral inhibition. They also provide more resources and extra policing of children and their behaviors. Those things do give children in two parent households a boost.
That being said, while being raised in a single parent household increases the odds of committing a crime by 17%, it does not guarantee it. No percentage of increased risk quoted by any study relating to the topic guarantees failure. Just increased risk. Can you comprehend the difference?
Standing outside your front door increases your odds of being stabbed. Does walking inside guarantee you won't? No, it just a matter of percentages. Did you not have a father around to teach you how to understand basic statistics and studies?
No one agrees with you dookie brain! You're just delusional! Schizophrenic that even a person with Schizophrenia can tell that you're a lunatic! You're trolling and spamming me for over something you know you're wrong about and will get backlash over! You got your head so far up your butt that your sniffing too much of your nauseous gas that you don't know that you're actually making yourself look bad! You're the embarrassment.
Just wait til tomorrow morning! You don't know how much you're embarrassing yourself just yet, baby.
😆😆😆😭🤣
@DreamLife7 😆😆😆😂🤣
@asker, but u ask the question yet when u don't see the response u like, u come up with bullshit excuses. Just admit this post is about u.
@DreamLife7 what is there to admit? That this person is a low life loser with no self love or respect for herself or others? You want me to admit that I'm a sad failure because you assume I'm fatherless? You want me to admit this this messed up troll is correct about fatherless children she doesn't know? She probably is one herself but is dealing with so much trauma that she decides to troll others online about things out of their control? You want me to admit to this person, who you are a lot alike, that you guys are experts in knowledge knowing that you both don't know squat about the people you claim to know about?
Honey, you don't even know my name. You don't even know what I do know about you. You don't even know if I can find out both of yours location, can you?
@asker she's right, statistics show that your kind become failures🤣😭. Literally check the statistics and stop asking questions you don't want the answers to
13/23 commenters agreed withy statement that you fatherless children are prone to failure. So actually the majority agreed with me, even though you very manipulatively made it seem like I said that they are bound to failure. Being a manipulative deciever must be another trait you picked up from your trauma. Smh
@DreamLife7 she actually isn't. and neither are you. you both are just incels waiting to get got. There are literally fatherless children making it out there and succeeding, while her and you are doing what exactly?
You should literally go to the salon and get a makeover, and trust me her too! Her pores are showing through her pictures, which who knows what others can do to her pictures. She's a dummy, along with you.
You guys are nothing but inbred insults with low self esteem and with nothing better to do! And I took a snapshot of you, too boo! I'll make an example out of both of you. Karma is real.
Actually, illiterate fool, 66%, which is a total of 22 voters voted against for something you're so advocating for! You're literally coming up with BS and not just me, but others can see right through it! And majority of us disagree.
Wow... you're embarrassing yourself because you literally can't read because you didn't graduate high school and somehow got passed kindergarten!
If you go back up, I asked the question, "Is a Fatherless Child Bound for Failure?"
How many voted for Absolutely Not? 66%.
Your a dumb Bitch with the complexity of a plankton and everyone will know lol
I do own my screenshots. That's one thing g you got right, apparently lol
I didn't make anything up, though the screenshots I took clearly shows how delusional and manipulate you and thag other trick are.
Another screenshot for me to embarrass you all over the internet. I got your photo, got your statements... now what else from you do I need to end your life and career on the web?
Clearly, I got more people on my side than yours. Unless you're too blind to see that, too!
I bet that's why you troll and cyber bully, right? You hate yourself and want others to as well, right? And because you suffered through some kind of trauma, you wanna instill trauma onto others you don't know online, am I right again?
Oh I will expose and stop people like you from harming others. But you're not harming me, you're just harming yourself in the process of harming others that come across your ignorant statements about fatherless children. I wonder what would a fatherless celebrity who see this handle you? Expose you?
I made posts about you and your friend, exposing both of you trolls and cyberbullies. See if you can find them! I will be glad when you get what you so rightfully deserve. And thankfully I have a bright future, unlike you. You're nothing but an obnoxious troll and bully and troll and bullies won't last long online or irl. Goodbye!
@asker she is correct. Statistics do not lie. If you can't handle the truth stop asking questions you don't want the answer to. Your behavior is a perfect example of fatherless kids.
@wolfcat87 a gag poll means nothing. Those are fatherless people looking for validation. Statistics say u guys are failures
Only sadistic and evil people like you would talk about the fatherless in that sort of manner. God will surely punish you.
And Asker, don't pay them no mind, I've reported both of them and I've seen their pictures on other platforms. People know about them now and are talking. We know that you advocate for all peoples and you're very educated, despite what bull they speak.
@LazerBean and @dreamlife7 and others like them are only trolling you because they want power of you and everyone else. They're also doing so because they're attention seekers, probably because they're not getting any at home, and they're toxic manipulators. Read an article on this site about how trolls and cyber bullies hide behind screens. It'll be helpful!
So whatever you do, don't fall for their traps. Just ignore them and they'll die. Maybe in real life, too. It'll be ok. I know you're strong. Just stay strong and ignore those uneducated freaks, block them, and everything will be alright. We both know that the fatherless do have a father. And he is God.
@queenofnile shut up fatherless bitch🤣
@DreamLife7 Except I didn't grow up fatherless and studied child development as well as education in college. The experts don't even agree with you. Your behavior is pretty horrific for someone trying to claim that having a father makes anyone better. You're proving the opposite pretty well. You don't understand math or science and have no house training on how to behave...
@wolfcat87 I've already messaged the asker and we both talked. We agreed that these two are only stalking, harassing and trolling her because they just want power and attention. And about them making comments about the fatherless in that sort of manner, they're already suffering with some kind of mental illness and obviously don't know what they're saying. They are just gonna keep making stupid comments just to get a rise out of her and everyone else that agrees and knows right from wrong. But they're apparently mentally incapable of knowing what's good and what's bad. We both and some friends of mine already reported them to the cyber police. We saw her posts and we're supporting her. There are many just like them online. The best thing we can do is not give them the benefit of the doubt and just let them talk to themselves and look dumb, which is already too late.
Like how I told the asker, don't worry about them. In the near future, they'll be fertilizer for the earth and become bug food! We know what's right and the truth. So let's leave these untrained housebroken roaches alone so they can just embarrass themselves even more. I wonder if they're on Twitter or Reddit yet. That's where usually people like them go viral.
@🤣🤣🤣🤣
It depends on the person but I do believe every child needs a father to teach them boundary's and manners. Otherwise children are more likely to step over boundary's that they really shouldn't step over. They are more likely to get into trouble because they weren't put back into place by their father. Especially in childrens puberty years they need to be kept line to some degree because they can be very rebellious during those years of becoming a adult
Yeah I disagree, statistically the odd is greater for them, but not necessarily true. In my experience I’ve seen a lot of children from nuclear families fail then children from one parent present.
not true. but definitely will have mental health issues.
I mean those with 2 parents can have mental health issues. And there are some without a father who don't have mental health issues.
sure but the father wound/missing father/empty space and experiences where you're supposed to grow up and spend quality time with your father and then there isn't one... leaves a more permanent scar.
Statistically they stand a greater chance of all of the worst things in society. It does not mean they will, it just means they are at far greater risk.

No it depends on the choices they make through out their lives and the kind of support they have in their lives.
One of my friends grew up only seeing his dad a couple times a year. He's pretty successful
Thanks for sharing! Hope he's doing well.
Then he's not a fatherless child
@dreamlife7doesn't know any better. Hence why her and her partner in crime have been trolling me for the past 3 days!
Not necessarily, but it is a bad start and bad beginnings usually have bad endings.
Obviously not, and there are millions of examples of it around the world.
i don't know financilally but socially yes. for guys they tend to turn into weak guys while with girls, they turn out to be sluts most of the time. in short 2 reject of society.
Not necessarily I know a lot of people who were raised by just their mothers and turned out just fine with good careers, stable marriages etc.
It can go either way. But every child needs good role models and structure in their upbringing
While it becomes a little more difficult, no, there's no "failure"
They aren't bound for failure, as in it's 100% assured, but they are certainly more likely to fail. That shouldn't be surprising.
It is not a guarantee but the correlation to fatherlessness and crime and general life failure cannot be ignored.
The odds are worse for boys than girls.
Wish that wasn't the case. But there have been men to challenge that stereotype.
Yep agree
How do you feel about this subject?
These kids can beat the odds but will have many challenges.
Yes. Those will have challenges, but who's to say that their upbringing determines their future success or failure in life? There are many who grew up in a good middle class 2 parent family who ended up being murderers 😲
Like who? last I recall, Jeffrey Dahmer and Ted bundy did not grow up in two parent homes.
Dennis Rader, Richard Cottingham, you can even say Jeffrey Dahmer, though there was some trauma. He had 2 parents though. Gary Rigdway, Joanna Dennehy.
Jeffrey Dahmer did not have a two parent home. Again, fatherless children do not succeed. I don't know why u ask questions then get offended. U must be a fatherless child. Guess what? You're going to fail lol 😆 whether u like it or not
Uh yah did lol what a stupid girl. You poor stupid girl! Lol
Look it up, if you're capable. I mean, you're capable of going on the internet unsupervised. Wow. You sad pathetic loser. I don't feel sorry for what's gonna happen to you!
You and your partner in crime will be exposed and will keep being exposed until you are stopped before you harm anyone else. I will share this with others and so they know what bullies and Trolls you are. Try and have a nice life
www.flickr.com/.../53414211156
I really don't care how u feel or what u say. Your fatherless trauma is showing lol. Ur a failure get over it
Hi. Did you know that you're going viral, but not for the right reasons. People know how much of a troll you are and how you're cyberbulling others. I think it's such a shame how sadistic you are! Sick insecure prick. Don't worry asker, it'll come back around to her full circle. Just wait!
And that comment was for you and the other sicko because you guys are stalkers
@queenofnile loser with no friends 🤣. Gag is ur life nobody cares about
You're nobody. Nobody cares what you think. Get a life pal! Get self esteem and leave people alone.
@queenofnile shut up ugly bitch. Get a life and some friends u freak. Loser depends on gag cause u have no friends u fatherless failure 🤣
I think you're calling yourself that because you're the only bitch on here that's ugly. But don't worry, I've reported you already and my friends on another social platform are gonna report you and the other girl to the cyber police. We, either, don't stand for this. And we're fixing to getting to know your actual name so we can resolve this. But until then, I'm not gonna respond to you anymore, and nor is the asker, because we're not gonna let you win for your own sick pleasure. Be kind to yourself and to others and the earth will give back to you! Have a nice life.
@queenofnile u have no friends 🤣🤣🤣🤣 and u have no father.
They are more likely to fail, yes.
Why do you think that is the case, according to you?
Because children need a mother and father. They need the masculine presence in the house and someone to provide boundaries and leadership
So that means they will not be successful at anything they set their minds to, is what you're saying?
No. What I am saying is that statistically speaking, children without a father fare far worse than their counterparts with both parents. That’s not to say that an individual can be successful, but as a whole.
So you're saying, as a whole, fatherless children will end up unsuccessful and miserable?
Statistically speaking, yes. What part don’t you understand?
Your ignorance and non factual satistics
She literally doesn't know how to grasp direct answers and statistics. It's funny that she tried to indirectly name me by linking one of our conversations, but she didn't even link the one that she's referring to. Because she deleted that one because it was embarrassing how I asked her how long two people should date before getting married in her opinion and she couldn't give me an answer other than "a sensible amount of time" and couldn't give me any sort of numeric estimate of what that even meant.
@LazerBean ah, so another dumb anon who can’t understand normal thinking.
@LazerBean oh really... ok
@LazerBean FYI, I never deleted anything, u like you who deleted proof of the horrible things you said. No fear, I got proof!
Oh are you butt hurt too bc you're a failure with 2 parents who could care less about you? There are many fatherless children in this world with so much success that you can't even see that you got a stick up your rear. And you probably were a drop out, right?
@LazerBean now idiot, but you did but I got screenshots lol
Post the screenshots or STFU
I'm one who will not listen to a deadbeat like yourself!
Lol, how am I a deadbeat?
Wow... you just proved my point lol
You don’t have a point, dipshit.
I actually do. You just can't see it drop out dick bucket
Oh, I see. Your point is that you’re an insufferable cunt.
The @asker is fatherless and in denial. Her behavior is significant of mental illness and trauma from being fatherless which further proves our point
@DreamLife7 I have a feeling this is just a dumb troll, not a real person not working though trauma.
