They're improving, but a lot of shit is awful down there. The work-life balance is horrible. It's not just the sexism. When you get a break there are hotels you can go to to get like maybe two hours of rest, and then you go back to working even though you have been at it for five days straight with barely any sleep.

The culture is different. You can't talk back to the boss ever. He tells you to do something; you do it the exact way he told you to do it. In the western countries, you can make some demands, but not in Japan.

It doesn't matter if you know a more efficient way of getting the job done; if you say anything, he will tell you, "This is how we did it before you came to this country, and this is how we will do it after you leave," and if offer you a drink at the bar late at night when you want to go home and sleep, you have to go.

A lot of people like anime; just look at how those animators are treated and tell me you want to go work and live in Japan. You don't think bad things bad things happen to women? Most people westerns would not last a month in Japan, trust me. Don't just look at the cool and pretty anime and think everything must be wonderful down there.

I mean, I wouldn't say they discriminate against women, but they certainly don't respect them and see them as sex objects. Japan literally had to pass an official law, banning men from sneaking up skirt photos. That's just sad.
