What would you do to deter this crime wave that is currently happening?

Since the Blue State DA’s don’t want to lock criminals up. I say that we initiate public whipping or caning. You get caught ransacking a store or stealing from a porch. You get the adult version of a spanking.
Maybe that would take the fun out of stealing, looting and destruction of individual property!

END THE WAR ON DRUGS!
Stricter penalties for selling or giving guns to anyone who can't pass a background check, no matter who the seller is.
Stricter penalties for those who steal guns and/or are in possession of a stolen gun.
More non-violent conflict resolution education in k-12 public schools.
Better rehabilitation services in prisons to stop recitivism.

@OtterMan68. Unfortunately, there are so many gun laws on the books that are not enforced. I say that the existing laws should be enforced first. Regardless of whom you may be related to. Then see if they need to be tweaked.

Most of the crimes I see don't involve guns. I saw one store where the ran a car (stolen?) into a store then about 12 people of color stole thousands of dollars in merchandise and got away. No one even tried to stop these people because they know they will be killed.
They get in groups and take over a person and their car and valuables.

Stuff like that happens more than guns shooting people. That's just my opinion.
