Are Conspiracy Podcasts the Secret Obsession of Mainstream Media Haters?

Interesting how some of the most vocal critics of mainstream media are often found with their ears glued to the latest podcast by Brad Broseph with a microphone. They say the news is fake yet slurp up every conspiracy theory their from their favorite “alternative news” source.

I personally find conspiracies very interesting. But by their very nature, they’re theories without solid evidence. I do think there is a kernel of truth to most though. It’s been my own conspiracy theory for a long time that the crazier and more popular a conspiracy gets (recent ones, not like Bigfoot), the more likely the original theory has something to it, but to throw people off it has to get blown out of proportion into something insane and baseless.


I watched this happen with the Wuhan Lab Leak with Covid. Basically most of the information we now believe about Covid was being talked about on YouTube by credible people and PhD’s in February/March right before everything went nuts. Wasn’t known for sure since China locked everything down as soon as possible. Most of the information was also scrubbed by big tech as “misinformation”. And then later those theories got laced with unhinged garbage to paint the whole thing as conspiracy nut jobs only for years later to come back to the same conclusions but millions more dead.

Also, why is it bad to challenge, criticize or question what mainstream media pushes? What about those who read and look at articles and findings of independent journalists? Do they have merit or is anything outside of mainstream unreliable?

@ChefPapiChulo I disagree. Alternative news sources are my preference and in my opinion goes deeper and offers more critical thinking. Mainstream I gloss because they regurgitate the same thing, regardless if it is Fox, MSNCB, CBS, CNN. They do the same thing and are nothing but a ploy to increase division in the country and the majority of us eat it up.

Regardless, you do you. I am sticking with what has been more valuable and thought provoking.

I’m not sure how you’ve never read an article on a major news network and never thought it was thought provoking. You just have a bias against mainstream media because it’s mainstream.

Alternative news sources lack actual journalism a lot of the time and push half baked ideas.

Mainstream media has a extreme left wing bias to push a common woke agenda. I've noticed a lot of things never talked about by the mainstream media only to later hear it discussed by the Alterative media which through common sense has confirmed to me that the main stream can not be trusted.

I try very hard to avoid news of any kind. It's depressing. It's irrelevant which way the broadcast was historically, they all use the same script these days.

I'll keep ignoring all of it and look for a place off grid I can set up.

Independent journalists with ethics, integrity and skills are fine. It’s every other common Brad, Chad, and dad who starts a podcast from their basement and spreads their version of the news that’s the problem, which seems to be exactly what a significant amount of people want.
