Why don't governments pursue policies to educate parents about protecting their children's eye health?

Nowadays, everyone complains about the increasing number of refractive error cases, but no steps are taken to reduce these cases. If parents ensure that their children spend at least 2 hours outside a day and keep close activities such as playing computer or reading books to a minimum until the age of 10-12, these cases are likely to decrease.

I can say that is probably correct. I have a hole in both maculars. No one knows why. An op on my right eye a few weeks ago appears to have failed. I will be finding out more in a few days time.

What I do know is that both my brother and I spent much time delving into the inner workings of an Atari 800 and an 800XL from a very early age. We are both computer fanatics, and up until a few months ago, it was my work.

I do not know if this is the cause of my issues, and even the consultant is unsure.

Certainly, looking back, it was a case of too much close screen time.

Because parents immediately go nuts and start screaming the government has no right to interfere with their parenting and its all fake science from big optician. It's simpler to just shut up and let kids go blind than lose votes.
