I personally don't support any kind of affirmative action.
Affirmative action is BS in any field. Women don't need help getting degrees, or jobs. If affirmative action were to be implemented, white men are the most under hired group because of lacking opportunities in education, then lacking employment opportunities because of EDI.
There's no white, or men scholarships. The closest would be sports scholarships which women receive an equal amount of because of title IX. You can google scholarships for women and hundreds of them come up. The difference in getting grants and scholarships between me and my wife was getting blood from a stone and water from the sea.
Just recently I've stopped giving any data when applying for jobs relating to race or gender, the moment I stopped being a white man, I've got back to back interviews, at least 1 per week in the radius and paygrade I want to work in my field.
Before that it would be maybe 1 every 2 months. when I was looking for a job.

It's kind of moot as by the time you get to the hiring process women are outnumbered like 100:1 and are somewhat greedily snatched up just for the novelty. If there was to be anything like an affirmative action thing it would have to take place in college admissions.
And frankly I don't see why not. Engineering programs have a huge dropout rate anyway so it's not like anyone will graduate who hasn't earned it. Or rather, I say just let everyone who wants to in and let them decide for themselves after a semester if maybe a degree in art history or whatever is starting to seem more their style.

Sexism is sexism, gussy it up however you like. Want fairness? Make applications anonymous- no data on sexes or names.
Of course, few of the usual suspects are going to like the results, but at least then they'll admit it's not fairness they're after.
No. Qualified individuals should get jobs they are qualified for end of story. If a woman is qualified she should get the job if a man is qualified he should get the job. If they are equally qualified dealers choice. I hired the most qualified individuals for my lab most of them are men. There are a few women.
I don’t support affirmative action for anyone, period. Women especially. No one deserves special treatment. Just because she’s a woman doesn’t mean she’d know what the fuck she’s doing. The only reason affirmative action was a thing was because of feminism.
No, . What if they had affirmative action for a big project upgrading the electrical grid. You get somebody who was hired because of affirmative action and what if the project does not get done right?
Would you want a surgeon who got there by affirmative action taking out your liver?plenty of women in engineering, I worked with many. the original NASA lunar project had a bunch of women. Women all over the place. Some of them made more than I did.
I have no problem with promoting to. but favoritism is wrong.
Let's do affirmative action for women in bricklaying too. Only 0.3% of bricklayers are female and we need to fix this travesty created by sexist masons
I do not support any form of job discrimination. If she can do the work well, hire her. But don't lower the bar for DIE.
When a poorly trained artist makes a mistake she simply doesn't make money, when a poorly trained engineer makes a mistake people can die.
I'd be in favor for scholarships for women to go into engineering, but not hiring solely based on gender
