Did illegal aliens really build America? Are they the reason our economy is growing?

Joe Biden in his apology to the killer of Laken Riley who he called an illegal said that illegal aliens built America and they are helping our economy. Is this true? Does spending a half a trillion dollars on people who just take from us without contributing really help the economy? Did people who were unlawfully in America work in our factories or worked on our farms? Were they cops and firefighters? Did they become business owners?

We'll... if we converted them from illegals to legal and had them work and pay taxes, they would be. But that's the hickup... not enough space, not approved, whatever the issue... it's slow process.

Um... not sure about that. Immigrants built the country I'd say. The italians built NYC and few other cultures. Africans built the south around Lousianna they were legals but not free. Add to it the white people and Indians that were enslaved.

Up north they built autos and tanks, all sorts, usually americans, but immigrants.

On the coasts, the chinese built rail systems and worked the sweat shots for pennies. The did the back breaking work, my relative was in one and that was 70's.

Credit goes to teh guys at the top that financed and controlled, but immigrants came in, displaced the natives, built up the economy by hard labor and savings.

And of course, the farming and butching of the chicken and cows we all had for dinner (I'm assuming what that ground meat was, could have been anything since they opened up the market... could be rat or poodle from asia), the south americans do a lot of that work. never get 'native americans'.. e. g. European American and African Americans to do that work in numbers.

probably true, I haven't met any. Most are not skille. d some of the venezualans are and could work restaurants or delivery. We need roofers... roofs are too expensive and construction... can they do that? nyc can put some to work on menial jobs.. street cleanup, public works, social work. aIn 2023 the federal govt spent 450 billion dollars on illegals. That is what they admit to. Then the states and cities and towns spend billions more. This is money that should be spent on veterans and the elderly. People who served in the military or worked their whole lives. Add it all up and it is easy over a half a trillion dollars.

The rest of us with jobs that have to pay taxes are getting ripped off. In the town that I live in at the last town meeting there was a major project for the school department that had to be put on hold because the funding that was supposed to come from the state was cancelled. The state spent a billion dollars in 2023 on illegals and they also had a tax shortfall of another billion dollars because 110,000 people left the state for more citizen friendly places. This is going on in every town in the state.
The government is still printing a trillion dollars every 100 days to pay for all the crazy crap the democrat are doing. This will only increase inflation as we saw yesterday in the CPI figures.

Employers need competition on job market and people who have no right like illegals. What happens to illegals when they are old, can't work anymore and lost their families who usually support them? They don't have any right for retirement or professional geriatric care because they and their employers never paid social insurances like they are obliged by native workers. Why is it the truth gets by you without you being able to see it. And the border bill was the toughest proposed immigration bill was the toughest that had bipartisan support (an important detail) that Trump had killed just so he could prevent Biden getting any credit even though killing it hurt America (Typical Trump move). @Red_Arrow That bill had no money to finish the wall, it allowed 5000 illegals in a day plus if that 5000 number was reached more could come in through the ports of entry. The Border Patrol is not to be used to stop and arrest the illegal from unlawfully entering our country. They will be processing them and sending them to a city near you. Nothing for deporting the ones that are already here , nothing to stop the tide that is destroying our country. It also had language that would prevent the next president to change it.
How does this bill stop the problem? It makes it worse. Mike Johnson did the right thing. Hopefully Trump is re-elected and he will show everybody how to secure a border. He did it before.

The early immigrants like the Irish and Chinese helped build railroads and industry. But they were legal immigrants too that came through Ellis Island. The illegal ones don't do much for the economy as they work under the table for cash, and most have no car insurance so if they get in an accident, it falls on the other driver to pay for their own repairs. You see them hanging around Home Depot looking to be hired out for cash paying temporary manual labor jobs. Their employers can undercut any by the book employer who pays worker's comp and taxes and decent wages. I have to admit that some of them can do some really beautiful brick work, concrete, and stone wall work. But working under the table, I don't see any of them paying taxes or their employers either.
