Should assisted suicide be legal everywhere?

I believe that it should be our right to end things if we're sick of life. And technically you can at any point in your life. But people are afraid of the pain and decide to look for painless methods rather than choosing to just take a bullet to the head themselves.
I will also say that I do believe society should encourage people against it and try to add value to each other's lives. But the cold hard truth of society is most people don't give a shit about your life. You hear about deaths all the time in the news and because we don't know the person, it doesn't affect us. I've even seen so many people joke about how people died on social media that it's disgusting.
Ultimately though, I think everyone's own lives are their own and the decision of whether you want to deal with the hardships of life or not should be up to yourself.
I think that everyone should at least aim to have a family of their own and leave something behind as a memoire of themselves, like a book or a piece of art or something.
I believe it should be legal. I know many who have died terrible deaths that did not want to lay and suffer
I know that if I knew I was dying and was in agony, why prolong the inevitable? For instance, if someone was trapped in a car wreck and they were burning to death and screaming bloody murder, and you had a gun, would you do the humane thing and put them out of their misery? During WWI, they didn't have parachutes. So when a plane caught on fire the pilot would rather jump out instead of dying in agony on the way down. When your pet is dying and in agony, do you put it down or let it be in pain until it dies? Therefore, a person should be able to have the dignity to die in peace and without prolonged pain. Some states, like Oregon, have an assisted death law for this. Now speak for yourselves. How would you rather do - Peacefully, or in total agony like the people on Brad's - the AI guy - bus?
I hear ya
I think there needs to be caveats put in place. I mean if it’s someone with stage 4 cancer and they’re just in pain and agony, sure. Someone with 3rd degree burns in over 90% of their body and they’re in more pain than the process of changing their bandages, sure.
But not for all cases. I’ll never be legal everywhere because some religions do not believe in suicide and countries that hold a large demographic of people within that religion wouldn’t pass the law. For example, predominantly Muslim countries.

I understand the arguments in favor but I cannot bring myself to accept that suicide is okay and so I can't say helping someone else to commit suicide is okay, either.
I had almost forgotten about Dr. Kevorkian.
Yes.
People within their full senses should be allowed to choose if they want to be alive or not. Had a parent curse it out not being a thing, since if meant they had to sit hours waiting for their 15 year old son, who was drugged up on morphine, slowly die because his lungs didn't function. A 15 year old who went through enough pain in his short life. (Thank goodness for those drugs tho)
I have lived in excruciating pain for 16 years and the morphine sulfate, oxycodone, Ativan, Trazadone, still left me in pain.
If I didn't have my son, I would have loved if someone put some Fentanyl in my IV and let out of that living hell.
Yes, yes, yes to your question.
No. It is not our decision on when our lives end. That decision belongs to God. God gives us free will and therefore often does allow someone to end their life when they choose, but doing so is a sin. It is murder of oneself. Dying in the middle of a sinful act severely limits the odds of avoiding Hell. If you die in the middle of the sin, then the sin cannot pass and therefore you lose your chance to repent. There is no chance to repent once life ends.
Anyone who aids in suicide is committing murder. You are not killing in self-defense. You are not killing in the name of justice. You are killing because you have made the decision that someone is beyond saving. Again, that is God's decision to make.
Committing suicide does not prevent one from going to Heaven. Doing so is just one sin, one of a zillion we commit in life. No sin will send you to hell once you are saved.
I think @daniela1982 has it summed up.
for those who say no. What would you do if your wife or daughter was screaming in agony, knowing they would die as they burn to death, leave them to their pain or shoot them? Let’s see how callous people are, usually the religious types let their loved ones suffer the most.
In india if someone commits suicide and fails the police can't take any legal action against that person they can only take that person to the hospital and that's it
No, it should not. It shouldn't be legal anywhere.
Nope it shouldn't be, it's a crime!
We need to help such people as much as we can and show them care!
To assist them on committing suicide means that we are ill too!
If you are suffering sever pain & death is inevitable soon. I think you should be able to have access to assisted suicide.
If I feel like an animal is suffering and there is no way to save it then we would put it down right? Why should someone you love be any different?
Yes, for people with treatment resistant depression, like me
No I absolutely don't think it should be legal.
Here it should be. The rest of you I don't mind.
If terminally ill then yes. No need to suffer needlessly.
Hospice is a way to accomplish that. My father was terminal and they kept him deeply sedated, kept him on a feeding tube and waited. It took a week.
It shouldn't be legal anywhere, and I say this as someone who knows how bad pain can get, and what it's like to wonder if I'll ever walk again.
If you feel the need to rely on the State to tell you what is and isn't acceptable, then Yes
no. but there are some new suicide boxes, where an individual would basically just push a button. because legalizing the killing of people is a very slippery slope.
Well technically it is for the patient.. I mean they are dead, so services were rendered before legality took place!
nope
this is horrible
If you want to help a selfish person
Yes!
Yes, but with massive checks and balances.
