Normal people work and save their money and can’t afford anything but travel to some poor country and they die with nothing?

I mean America.. I mean it’s so hard. I mean people work hard all their life and they have nothing left but house and broken cars to fix it. And they get reverse mortgages and they spend everything. Ugh… the reality is people are slave of their house that’s breaking down constantly. What’s good about America life for real?

You paint a very grim picture of living in America. I came to CA from a city that was dying in the 'rust belt' where the rubber industry - Tires Industry was dying and leaving the state without much manufacturing.

Maybe I was lucky, I don't really know for certain. Living in CA is not easy and not inexpensive, but there are places to live that are affordable, not crime ridden or drug ridden. No matter where you live, if you have property i. e. a home, it has to be maintained, the same as anywhere, and that is a 'given'. That is no different, no matter where you live.

My next door neighbors, are renting a home from a good friend of mine. They have two young children, they DO struggle financially at times, and face the same problems as anyone living in any community, anywhere.

I don't have children, as I made that decision, because my wife has children by a previous marriage, so I don't have that financial obligation. I do the best to maintain my home in a reasonable way, and try to do much of my own work. I don't not look at it as slavery, but simply a pride of ownership, to preserve what I have acquired through hard work and focus.

I am sorry you have the experiences you have had here and hope things will get better.

houses are where most people have their assets grow. you can make a modest wage your whole life and put it into real estate and come out with much more wealth than you would have had any other way. the only exception is the current market, where even crappy houses are unaffordable. people who buy in this market are going to be stuck with these overvalued houses and have no way out. it's never been this bad before. but generally, over the past 100 years, real estate has been a very good investment

That might be the reality for migrants especially with the huge influx of immigrants. But history shows that usually the children and grandchildren of migrants usually do much better.
